Anyone have an idea why Entergy is down about 2% as I type this? They just announced that earnings per share beat the estimates by $0.29 . I couldn't find any negative news.

This is why day to day swings in the market cause so much pain. So much irrationality.

Maybe some big investor thought they should beat the number by 32 cents, not 29, so they dumped it.

I follow ETR because I own a couple thousand shares and my guess is some mutual or pension fund thought they were going to announce a dividend increase today with their earnings like they did last October.

Since they didn't announce a dividend increase with their earnings announcement, they dumped their shares. But that's just a guess.

Thanks for the replies. I thought some on here might have heard something since the company is based in New Orleans.

LSUFanHouston, not much pain. I have several hundred shares with an average cost basis of $66. ETR is on my watch list and I may want to get some more if it goes lower.
