I got my annual bonus and now have 4 months net pay that will be my emergency fund (I never had an emergency fund before).
Should I just keep it in a savings account? I currently have a Roth 401k through work and a small traditional ira.

Capitalone 360 but there are better rates out there. Have one month of cash related to emergency. Roth IRA is the remainder of emergency

Max out Roth since you appear to qualify.

I keep a couple months liquid in a savings account. The remainder is invested but I can liquidate it quickly if needed.

CapOne360 for cash, and Sharebuilder account for big stuff. No reason for that much money to sit idle. With CCs and good credit, should be able to get funds if in a pinch.

To me a Money Market fund or savings account is the place for an emergency fund.

Yes. If you feel financially responsible enough to max out your 401k Roth if you aren't doing so already that's what I would do. Tax free growth is hard to beat.
Eta: emergency fund a couple months in any kind of savings. We're usually not talking big bucks in that anyways.

Half in buried gold krugerrands with the GPS coordinates known only to me.
Half in a numbered account in the Caymans.

750k home paid off. 400k HELOC is a click away from my savings and checking account so the HELOC serves as one of my "emergency accounts" if needed.

Correct.

No, Roth IRA. You can get the money back out without any penalty if you need it.

Ah. You're correct. I thought he was getting it. Not already received.

I have mine invested in this up and coming cryptocurrency called bitcoin... I don't want to bore you with all the details of how it works, but I have a feeling I will be cashing out and making millions soon enough. I personally think its safer than a FDIC insured savings account.

A better investment than Dinar?
I started a Roth last year and maxed it out with some of our emergency fund- VTSMX, VTIVX, and a handful of energy stocks.

Don't get crazy now... We all know the Dinar is the go to, but its more difficult to convert to USD in a time of crisis.

Question that's a bit on the same topic. Does a company sponsored Roth 401k have the same rules as far as withdrawing the principal without penalty as a regular Roth IRA?
