Not if you or your wife likes to take a bath. Cast iron will keep the water hot a lot longer.

I went with an acrylic tub, simply because I wanted a very large, very deep soaking tub. Saved the $$ I would have spent on a (much smaller) CI or ceramic tub and put in a second hot water heater, plumbed in-line with the first one. No one runs out of hot water, ever, at my house. And it has sufficient output to fill the gigantic 120+ gallon soaking tub.

Yep. Kohler Bellweather 60 x 30 cast iron tub is around $500. Find a nice ceramic and a messican and tile surround for another $400, nice trim kit that will fit rough in, easily doable around $100.

Just doubled value. You're welcome

What about a one piece toilet versus the old two part toilet?

I'd do a two piece with a 1.28 GPF. Most likely because I'd be carrying it myself

American Standard Cadet Line. I replaced three toilets with these last year and am very pleased with them. They're water saving toilets but I haven't had any issues at all with them. They'll suck down forty golf balls so fast it will make your head swim. I got the one-piece for the two bathrooms downstairs but the plumber balked at getting a one-piece upstairs.
