Bathroom remodel project

OK moneytards.
We are about the embark on remodeling our bathroom.
I am looking for a good quality bathtub/shower combo, something under $1K. Looking on-line, I am seeing that Kohler Sterling made with Vikrell is about the best quality shower tub you can get.
What say ye?
Also, we need a good quality commode. I am looking at something like American Standard, is there a better quality name out there. Also, is there a place in Louisiana where we can get a toilet without the ridiculous 'water saving' technology?
I have read that the big-box stores quality is not as good as a good plumbing supply store is.
I am looking at LCR Plumbing supply in West 'by-god' Monroe to buy from.
Is there a better place in NELA to buy plumbing supplies? Heck, I might even venture over to Bossier-Shreveport.
Any other tips that I need to be aware of would be greatly appreciated.
I'll hang up and listen.
TIA

Check out Toto for the commode. I think I ordered mine from Amazon with free Prime Shipping.

I need one too. The ones that came with the house we bought were made for midgets. My junk touches the front of the bowl when I sit on it. Its the worst.

Same, but luckily one was out of commission and I had to install a new one. I have my man seat now and it's great.

American Standard, Kohler or Toto are good brands of toilets. Ask for a right height elongated bowl. The right heights are a little taller then the standard toilet (believe 16-18 inches tall) and the elongated will help with the junk touching. Also get a slow close seat. costs a little more but you will never slam the seat in the middle of the night waking the whole house.

Glad I'm not alone.

If you want the best, get a Toto Washlet. I have one. It has a heated seat and will spray warm water on your behind and blow dry you afterward. It is truly the way God intended a man to take a dump.
It will, however, blow through your $1K budget. But I don't regret spending the money one tiny bit. Best money you will ever spend in the bathroom.

I have a manservant for that.

Agreed. Toto's are awesome.

Keep talking. This sounds glorious.
How is hard is it to keep all those accessories clean? Or is that what Mrs foshizzle is for?

Yep.
Put in the heated seat and the bidet function for your wife.

How powerful is the blast from the bidet nozzle? Is it good enough to get rid of sticky mud? Does it oscillate or do you have to wiggle over it? Can you swap out the sprinkler head like you can with lawn sprinklers?

There's a self-rinsing feature also. Plus I have a cleaning lady come by once a week.

It's powerful enough to get the job done without leaving you feel like the water jet is violating you. It oscillates a little bit but not enough, I wind up wiggling my arse a bit to get it done.
Don't know about changing the head, never tried.
It has a function to wash the front also for the ladies. I bet it's fun to play with.
ETA: Just checked Toto's site, they've come out with a travel version that will spray your asscrack for you. I just might get one.

Also thanks guys for the tip on Toto.
Should I go with ceramic tub?

Sweet. I'm in. Now I'm going to have to find a good travel case, preferably with a steel/aluminum outer shell and a velvet inner lining custom formed to cradle it securely.
If it hasn't been invented yet, I think I'm going to call it an assaché case.

Not if you or your wife likes to take a bath. Cast iron will keep the water hot a lot longer.
