My wife currently works for General Mills as an R&D food scientist and will be making the move down to Louisiana.

After searching for positions, all we can find is Chef John Folse co.
If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that you may want to search for Food Safety. QC in food services is in very high demand. May not be what you want salary-wise, but it is what it is.

I have searched for positions at every one of the names in this thread. Not an easy career to pursue in Louisiana.

Did you check out Pennington Biomedical Research Center? It's run by LSU and one of the leading nutrition and dietary research centers in the US.

Based out of New Jersey. Mcormick bought them out.

And yes thanks for the heads up on Pennington. They have nothing as of now for her but I will definitely keep checking.

I know someone in that field that was in a job hunt within the past six months.

They gave looking here and went to Dallas, which is a hotbed for food scientists right now.

Multiple Fortune 500 company production facilities there.

Yeah we are leaving Minneapolis where she works for General Mills right now. They have huge food companies up here in the Midwest.

Maybe she can start something in Nawlins. What do you eat in Minnesota that we don't have yet in the South?

Funny thing is not many people know that Food Science is a scientific discipline.
I have a Master of Science in Food Science from LSU. After graduating from LSU I starting working at Diversified Foods and Seasonings (was in Metairie...now in Madisonville, Mobile and Nebraska)...then went to Atlanta for a year to work with Fresh Express (packaged salads)...left came back to NOLA and started with Sara Lee in their coffee and tea division...JM Smucker (Folger's Coffee) acquired SL last January - am still there..Started in QA and R&D and now am the Plant Manager. Like some of the OP said, need to research all companies...plenty around, some big some small:
Coke, Pepsi. Zapps, Louisiana Fish Fry, Bruce Foods, Tabasco, Folgers Coffee, Reily Foods, Community Coffee, Chisesi Ham, Manda Meats, Diversified Foods and Seasonings, Big Easy Brads, King Creole, John Folse, Baumer, Paul Prudhomme, National Fruit Flavor, some poultry plants in north LA, The Wright Group, Mizkan, Zatarains...hope this helps.
If looking in the NOLA area, post your email and we can connect...like to see a resume...may be able to help out!!!

Thank you so much.
My wife has her masters in food science from University of Illinois and has been working in R&D for the snacks division at General Mills for over 5 years now. We are thinking with her degree and experience in R&D for a giant like General Mills, if and when she finds an opening, she should get very high consideration. Fingers crossed

Again thanks for the names. We really appreciate it.
