If so, how do you like it?

No offense, but given your heightened level of insecurity, I doubt you succeed without a salary safety net.

There's no insecurity. I have a salary. I was just asking out of curiosity. I've always wondered if it's really as great as people make it out to be.

I would really like to hear from the guys who say it's great. Nothing about it sounds great.

Yes, and I love it. I cost my company nothing therefore I don't have people breathing down my neck each month.. If I don't sell, I don't eat, it's that simple.

I do encourage you to make sure you have a book of business prior to making the 100% commission leap. My situation works out well for me because I have loyal customers that know I will provide the best service in my industry and they understand the value of the service I provide.

I guess it depends what you're selling.. In the industry I'm in, I have customers that make purchases everyday. I have a large and loyal account base which means I know what I'm selling each week to the regulars. When i get the inevitable 1 time buyer or referral from a friend or existing customer, I consider the commission on that sale a bonus.

Business is very strong right now--I'm employing close to 500 people each week and it's growing.

The guys who are commission only--it's kind of like being a business owner--you eat what you kill.

No one to blame but yourself if there is no paycheck at the end of the month. My comment above was directed at a brand new sales rep going commission only right out of the gate. My experience is to pay people enough for a crappy apartment and cheap beer and then show them that as they grow business, I'll make sure they're compensated well.

It' sucks. I was successful but it still sucked.

Did it for almost 7 years.
Luckily i was single and had low monthly expenses.

I do. It's similar to being a small business owner except you are selling someone else's product. Try commission sales buying and selling your own product. Live small at first. Gradually grow. Save money from good months to put toward bad ones. If you make 5000$ in August but 500 in September, you didn't make 5000 in August.
