Depends what you like. I've grown to like downtown better than the strip. My comped rooms are on the strip, but I frequent Binion's and the Four Queens as much as, or more than strip casinos to gamble. The steakhouse at Binion's is decent, and Hugo' Cellar is outstanding. My limited play at both downtown casinos has resulted in dinner at each.

They wrecked the strip a long time ago. Binion's used to have 100X pass line's odds. They wrecked that too.

On a busy weekend you can forget comps unless you're at 200 a bet for four hours. Heavyweight fight weekend? Good luck unless you go a lot bigger than I.

I literally go Sun - Thurs only now, and play at casinos that appreciate my business. I get treated better, and I gamble to gamble, not chase comps, although free rooms and food are nice.

Hard Rock consistently gives me free rooms except their busiest times, and the downtown casinos I always eat comped. Some pretty decent places too.

The rise of the corporation killed it. It was much better under mafia control. They could take a loss on buffets and hotel rooms. As long as they made money on the floor and could skim it was all good. When the corporations took over you couldn't take a loss in any area.

Amazing the number of present day casinos that go bankrupt.

I'm going this weekend for the fight. I have no idea what I'm doing betting on boxing, but oh well.
