FitBit has my attention.
It's being billed as the next big tech IPO like GPRO.
Obviuosly, its not GoPro but it's a very popular item with lots of upside.
Last year, I whiffed on GPRO, SHAK & VA due to fear of chasing.
Any thoughts on Fitbit?

All I can add is for my wife's 30th birthday I called all over metro New Orleans trying to find Fitbit's new "Charge HR" model and literally no retailer had it in stock - I'm talking Best Buy, Dick's, Radio Shack, even cell phone carriers. Even Amazon was sold out, or was on backorder 2-3 weeks. I then randomly checked Amazon a few days later and luckily found a Prime-eligible seller who got them in stock.
So, all I know is the Charge HR model is heavily coveted.

Same thing at Target last week in BR. My girlfriend wanted one so we went and they were sold out. Empty shelves. My employer provided us one and I like it. I am considering investing in this IPO as well.

Fitbit is profitable, with $745 million in revenue last year and over $100 million in net income
Those numbers seem crazy. I had no idea they had those kind of sales. I'd like to know what their next ventures are though because there's only so much room for wristband growth, especially with the Apple Watch and others coming into the market.

Apple Watch
Was gonna say this too, so what will the FitBit do that the Apple iWatch won't be able to do?

healthcare management. real time tracking and analysis of health data.

I have never invested in an IPO but SOFI has me very interested.

Who knows, Apple might want to acquire Fitbit down the road.

They are going to IPO?? I've heard nothing on this. Would definitely be a buyer though. Hell, I may need one for lunch now.

Has FitBit officially announced an IPO date?

I'm pretty sure it's June 17th.

Can someone explain to me how you purchase shares of an IPO? Can you pre-order shares or do you just have to jump in at market price on the date it debuts?

This assumes you could have gotten stock in any of these. i do IB in new york and I can tell you that if it's that good of a deal unless you have millions of dollars with a bulge bracket you aren't getting ANY shares, and if you do get shares you probably dont want them because it's going straight down.

You're saying that you can't profit from IPOs?
Posted on 6/4/15 at 9:08 pm to Chuck3000
No I'm saying you can get shares in the initial offering which is where the vast majority of the profit is made.

The timing looks good for Fitbit IPO as wearable device market is in boom these days. Fitbit has a line of physical products and has solid revenue growth. Despite the recall issues, Fitbit managed to turn profitable last year.
