False.

You don't get to board before first class or the platinum/diamond medallion members, but you are always Zone 1 boarding.

The fact that they will waive any fraudulent charges with no questions asked is one of the main reasons I use Amex. Try doing that with Chase-Visa.

They also have really good customer service.

For the most part, people ignore their zones anyways. Guy in front of me this morning was zone 2 boarding with Sky Priority...

I've had an Amex Platinum since 96 or so.
I do very little business travel and really have no use for any of the perks, and the points are a minor detail.
I have it strictly for the consumer protection if I get screwed.
4/5 times somebody has tried to screw me and AMEX just shuts them down like I'm the Pope or something.
I basically have it because it gives me piece of mind to make purchases.

I have an Amex gold. When do they typically charge you the fees? I've had mine for probably 16 mos now and swear I've never been charged anything.

I'm not sure. It's $125 after the first year. Maybe your account is inactive if it just sits there with no use.

Oh my account is active, , probably too active.

I have also heard Amex will typically comp the fees if you call up and hassle with them, I can not vouch one way or the other if that is actually true tho.

I've been using Amex platinum for about ten years.. The travel perks used to be awesome.. A couple of free companion tickets a year, upgrades to 1st class on the cheap, one free international companion plus all the clubs and other airport perks. They now pretty much suck, in comparison at least.

The points are probably in the average spectrum of cards available. You can find some good gift card deals throughout the year and occasionally good deals on merchandise. Home Depot for example usually has some good deals running. The travel reimbursement is ok but once again not as good as it used to be.

Why I have one, fraud protection and customer service. We put roughly one million on our Amex account annually. We bypass factoring companies in favor of our Amex because the terms end up being better and the protection services provided. Plus we get the points. In the past few years, we have purchased plane tickets, outdoor furniture, new fridge, new dishwasher, new tv and other smaller items using our points. The only annoying time is the build up to Christmas as many companies pull back their reward offers.

y'all make me feel worthless for just cashing in my reward points on my Chase freedom and sapphire for cash.

I already have two Chase credit cards under my name and a Citi credit card that I was made an authorized user when I was in high school.

Should I really open up another credit card and try and save these points on a delta or amex card? I am still in school and probably spend only 1-2k a month on my credit card.
