Airbnb & Uber for Business Travel

Has anyone here used either service? If so, what did you think? Uber seems like a no-brainer in cities like NYC. I'm thinking of trying out Airbnb the next time I have an extended stay in one city.

both very legit
I've used AirBnb several times over the past 3 years. found a badass spot in Edinburgh for 75 a night this past spring

Airbnb is great. I have properties I list on there and they do well. Hosts and guests get to review each other so you know who you are dealing with.

Uber is great. Easy service to use and decent cars.

Uber
First time I heard this name was when NO basically told them to frick off...
Im not that familiar with it, but from what I understand, its an app that connects you with drivers? So you basically book a "Taxi" through their app and its all independent drivers?

Ya, but nicer cars and they are all checked out by Uber.
I actually have an acquaintance (friend of friend) that works for Uber. His Facebook travels make me all jealous.

I've used Uber in Atlanta quite a bit and it is great for a city with limited taxi service but why do you think it would be a no-brainer for New York?

No-brainer for NYC if you don't want to mess with cabs. I generally don't mind using cabs & the subway in NYC but I could see the utility of Uber if you want something nicer than a cab for entertaining clients, taking the wife out on the town, etc. I also prefer town car service for transportation from the airports into the city.

We have Uber in DC & I love it. You download the app and enter your credit card info so whether you're using uber taxi, black car, or SUV you never have to worry about cash. You drop a pin on a map at your location for an uber car to pick you up. It tells you how many minutes away your ride is, and you can even track the car on the interactive map. You are required to rate the driver post-trip, but I've heard that if drivers fall below 4 stars they are fired, so you will rarely see someone trying to dirt bag you with a bad route or shitty service because their employment is contingent on good reviews.
I used airbnb over Labor Day weekend in San Francisco and had a wonderful experience. We rented a second bedroom from a free lance translator who cooked us breakfast every morning and gave us great local restaurant recommendations. Using it for 2 nights on our honeymoon and renting an entire apartment in Auckland. I would definitely recommend it, just read the reviews carefully before booking.

I don't use taxis except when I was forced to. I use uber all the time though because of the convenience. 2nd to none
