I started putting money back into my 401k about a year or so ago, and to be honest, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff.

1) Currently, I have 3% of my bi-weekly checks going into my 401k (company isn't offering matching right now). I have 38% going into a 9242 Voya US Stock Index Port (Large Cap Value), 30% going into a 0496 American Funds EuroPacific R3 (Global/International), 22% into a 0597 Voya Global Bond Port (Bonds), and 10% into a 1559 Voya Russel Mid Cap Index Port A (Small/Mid/Speciality). Are these good options at the moment? I can post a screen shot of what my options are if that would help.

2)Any recommended reading materials to help me gather a better understanding of 401ks and how they work? How about blogs and what not for how the market is doing/what my best options are?

3) Currently, my Personal Rate of Return is 6.15%. How good is that?

thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with Voya funds, but you want to use low cost funds (expense ratio of 0.5 or less). If there are no low cost funds and no matching then using a 401k becomes debatable.

Are you already funding a Roth IRA? If not, then that probably makes more sense than a 401k with no match.

A Roth sounds like a better option for you, especially with funds carrying a 1% exp ratio.
Check Vanguard.

As to your allocation, that seems like a high % going to foreign and bond funds. I'm assuming you're under 35, so I would think a higher portion toward US Stock.

My .02.

I agree.

Drop the bonds and add a US Growth or Aggressive Growth type fund. Back off the international some as well.
