Looks like they might pass on a qb with their number 2 pick overall. LINK

Get some OL to protect him and a couple of decent receivers.

That is the general feeling here in TN, but obviously that could change. Trading the 2nd overall pick for multiple picks seems to be the thinking.

What is the general reaction in Nashville to going with Mett over drafting a QB with the second pick. As a tiger fan, I'm excited that they seem to be investing in him!

They may feel there isn't a QB worth selecting with the number 2 pick, and they have other needs that they could more adequately address with the pick. It's not like the Titans are good QB play away from being a playoff contender.

Neither of the QB's is a slam dunk pick. Winston has the talent, but also has the baggage. He will likely go first anyway. Mariota just screams poor college to pro transition to me. Tennessee has taken an Olineman 1st in the last 2 years and their line is still shite. They seem to have decent WR's, a young highly touted RB from last years draft. They should be clicking on Offense. Their D needs lots of help though. If they can get a king's ransom for 2, they should give it. Bolster their D while trying on another OL and see where it leads.

i cant get over how people think putting a different qb behind a bad oline is gonna change anything.

when this past season started, people were saying tom brady was washed up, he should retire, etc. no qb is gonna be great behind a bad oline.

you can scheme around receivers and get by, but you cant scheme around a bad oline.

This is what they need to do if he is going to have any success. He is as immobile as QBs come so he needs premium protection from the OL, something when he wasn't doing good he wasn't getting those last few games.

Metteneberger with proper time can carve you up, pressure him and he's done.

Trade it to Philly for a 1st and Fletcher Cox, many people up here get the feeling that Chip Kelly doesn't like Nick Foles and he wants Mariota

Titans need a LOT. Their talent is depleted across the board.

Look at what Dallas has done with back to back first round OLINE picks.

Probably the best move if they can get the right deals. They need a lot to help Mett right now. I expect at least 2 OL in the draft for them if they don't go out in FA for any. They need a top flight WR as well.

They really need to step up the defense also. You can't win games giving up almost 30 pts/game when you have an immobile, rookie qb with a bad oline.

To me, priority 1: O-line. Priority 2: defense.

I don't know the Titans well enough to say what position their defense needs the most, but a quick glance at NFL.com numbers suggests they desperately need to improve their run defense. They probably need a good ILB or two.

I would pass on those two as well. They still could draft a QB to compete.

If they are smart, they will do what the Rams did, and turn the Winston/Mariota hype into multiple early picks by trading back and actually addressing real needs. That team needs a lot of help.

That's fantastic. Really hope they build around him to see what he can do. He's certainly showed flashes.

It should be the thinking. Mett was at least serviceable at QB until he got injured and with another year under his belt, he will probably continue to at least perform at a level that he would be a hindrance to the team.

The Titans need a couple offensive lineman and some weapons on offense and they'll be fine there. Problem is that they also need to address the defense. Trading the second overall pick to grab a guy like Amari Cooper later or a Shane Ray would be what I looked for them to do, depending on how far down they are willing to go.

I think they are hopeful on Mett. They also realize they will probably need a couple of years to be in playoff contention. The fear seems to be if Mett can stay healthy. True the OL sucked when Mett played but they were down 3 OTs when he was in there due to injury.

The Titans can't fix everything in one draft, no matter how many picks they get if they deal the No. 2 for multiple selections.

IMO, first priority is to shore up that line so you protect Mett. Second priority is to find him some receiving weapons. If your tight end is your most productive receiver, you may have a problem. I had high hopes for Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter in 2014, but didn't see the production I expected. They are both in the upward arc of their careers, but just in case, Titans may want to look at WR.

Defense is always a priority for every team, but that hasn't been the worse part of the Titans' game lately. Playing in a mediocre conference has helped.

Titans need to get that offense going, then turn to stopping the other team.

What Mett has going for him up here is that the team has really rallied behind him since the season ended. The ports offensive line was horrific, with Levitre(RG) being horrible and on the right end Oher (OleMiss Blindside) was even worse. Met would do 5 to 7 step drop and the ends and tackle on D would beat him to his spot.

It was also cleat that Whisenhunt's offense needs to be tweaked to include some quicker passes. The Titans drafted Sankey ahead of Hill which was a huge mistake so they need a running back as well.

This will be the last "go-round" fro Wisenhnt and webster (GM) so they had better get it right. May sign FA at QB or draft a project in later rounds.
