For those folks worried about this fictitious "huge" gulf between the Alabama and LSU programs let me remind you (again) that these programs are only seperated by (1) 2 inches (Oklahoma St. missed FG vs Iowa St. in 2011) and (2) 1:39 seconds in 2012. That coupled with one of the programs getting the benefit of the doubt on both sides of the same argument in back-to-back years.

That's it. That is the difference between Alabama being on the brink of back-to-back and LSU being there.

I know, discussed before, CSB, blah, blah, blah.

Oversimplification.

By your logic, LSU was inches away from losing to Bama last year in reg season. This year we were inches away from losing 3 games.

So close.

Just think if our "creative" offense cracked the triple digit mark in total yardage on 1/9

Championship!!

Yeah, and in 2007, we were one WVU win and few seconds (AU) away from not wining the NC. But we did.

The last two years, we didn't. Bama beat us both times.

What actually happens on the field determines championships, not what might have occurred.

"Coming close" has zero value.

LSU is a lot closer to 5-6 additional losses b/w 2010-2012 then they are to 2 championships in recent years. They've certainly had more of the sloppy close-calls fall their way in SEC play then they deserve, particularly with the spectacular talent they've had on the field.

Hi pot.....i'm kettle. You can use this arguement with every team. There are always several close calls that could go either way.

Umm, we lost on NCG and didnt make the next one.

Other than that, we are extremely close to back to back NC's. Well done sir.

Yes, all of the players hard work was destroyed by Miles ability to shut off brain activity while making decisions.

But, how would you feel if LSU had made it to the championship this year and lost. Two years in a row.

Common dilemma, what is more valuable, a good bowl game win or a championship loss?

Sorry, I'm trying to justify not making it to Miami and arguing with myself.

Les Miles' recruiting, coaching hires, player development, and motivation is what put LSU in position to win those games. Get over it. We lost and Miles made some bad calls.

We were very close to going 11-1 and repping the West in the SECCG and everyone knows it.

Hopefully they put it together next year.

This. "What if" threads do nothing except make you feel frustrated. Stuff happened, move on, be excited for NEXT year. You never know what happens with college football.

LOL. Wow. I keep forgetting we lost "The Game of the Century". Thanks for reminding me.

LOL. This is rich coming from a fan of a team that needed a Mulligan to beat the team/coach you are bashing above.

Two years in a row losing your most important home game of the year. Your program should be in the same position LSU is in this year, but due to easy schedules and media adoration, you are not.

Instead of bashing LSU, you should be thanking a higher being for your redos and overall luck in general. The past two seasons, you have not won your way to the title game, rather, you've needed others to force you in or lose.

Uhhhh 2007 and this year (potentially) ring any bells.
