The only statistic that matters is the score. You're making an argument for a moral victory, and that's a loser's mentality. As long as Miles is the coach, it's very unlikely that we'll win another NC, unless Saban retires or takes a job in the NFL.

the problem with the QB sneak play was the distance was too much. It's a power play and you expect the defense to load up to stop it. What would have been great right there was a hard count to see if you can get Bama to jump. Or better yet, just let Hill run behind Bull.Dozer and Copeland

Exactly:

1. Moral victories in a loss = good
2. Objective criticism in a win = bad

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS

15 straight National championships in a row.

Completely and totally rational thought process. Because that's possible in today's college football.

The most important calls of the game. The calls he is paid for, yeah, he blew them. Only him, no one else.

And Saban outcoached miles on that last drive. Their offense was specifically prepared for what we were going to do.

BUT if you think Miles outcoached Saban because we outplayed them and lost, guess what? You are saying Miles was outcoached throughout 2009 and 2010 when we were routinely outplayed but pulled the win out of our asses at the end.

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

I agree.

I don't think anyone "outcoached" the other.

A sticking point that all of you guys that want to bash and bash and bash keep bringing up.

It's ridiculous as if everyone is happy with a loss.

It's the same thing as "I'm a realist," or "1/9!"

You preach it like we're supposed to just change our mind and agree that Miles will never be successful again.

Looking from the other end of the spectrum = moral victory fans?

Where did I say this? I've always said Miles is a good coach, but I am also willing to say he is flawed and needs good coordinators around him.

The OP is one of the better posts I've seen on this site in quite some time.

The Bama defense was gassed at that point. Shrinking the area of the field for Bama to defend there helped them in that situation. Should have spread them out there. It would have been the perfect opportunity to use Shepard in an option type run with either Hill or Ford in the backfield with him. Let those guys use their speed to get the edge against the tired legs of Bama. They also possess the power to fall forward to get the distance necessary for the first down. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a play like that, at that point in the game, go to house either.

Do you think Spurrier is a good coach? How many titles did he win at Florida? Winning the NC is difficult. Spare me any crap about a losers mentality. The fact is, Les Miles beat Saban 2 years in a row. Last year Saban got an unprecedented mulligan, that's what;s unlikely to happen again. We've beaten them before, we will beat them again, if we do that, we will have a great shot at another NC. Name me all the teams not named Alabama that you think would beat LSU in a NC game?

Saban. His imprint is on every team he has coached. Coordinators fell in line with his vision. Same with Meyer, Spurrier.

Miles' teams struggle with identity for a reason. We have a more coordinator driven team.

Miles is great at certain things (recruiting, prep), not so much in game day coaching.

Why is this so hard to accept?

The question does go to Chief. Why change what wasn't broken? Why did you alter your defensive approach on that last drive?

Certainly would be nice to do 3 nc's in 4 years.

Miles chickened out with the game on the line by failing to trust the QB and WRs who gave him the lead, thus GIFTING Bama a clear road to their 3rd NC in 4 years. You can pretend that's good for LSU if you want.

Miles will continue to recruit, coach, and build good/great teams, I am sure. But his philosophy and gameday coaching will continue to cost the team.

I've never been a miles fan before he got hired. If you you look at his record before he got to LSU . He went 7-5- 9-4- 8-4 at OKST. one bowl win in 4 years there .They guy is not a great coach period. He might improve the team to a few wins but that's about it . His only big win during that span was one win over Oklahoma. I am proud of the team . They wanted to win , but not so much of the coaching staff.
