Was a wonderful season. Close but not quite close enough. Had our fair share, and them some, of blunders which costs us dearly. UF played solid enough to win, tip of the hat to them, especially their defense, pitching and plate presence...well schooled.

I do believe the NCAA has decision to make about replays, either go all in or none at all. The game can be quickened, for example, put a clock on pitching, 15 seconds. These human rain delays by batters can be lessened, not quick enough, call a strike for delay of game. One coaching challenge per game and any thereafter result in an out which can carry over to the next inning. The game is filled with many fine athletes who get faster, stronger as seasons progress and the governance of the game must keep pace, or even set the pace.

Now, where is my football!!!

I don't know if you are a player, coach or parent but the fans are proud of the team. Don't equate being disappointed with not winning a championship to being disappointed in the team.
The players that come to Lsu and the coaches that come to Lsu know the expectations . That's why there were 10,000 LSU fans in Omaha vs 300 Florida fans.
The same fans that you are bashing. Sad!

Many LSU/Louisiana people ARE satisfied with finishing second.

They love those participation trophies.

Just look at em on here.

All the non-competitive Cheerleader/Idolizer types are coming out of the wood work defending the loses to Florida. (BTW, have we beaten UF in any sport this season?)

Florida earned their championship and still lost 19 games this season. The Gators were 4-1 against the Tigers and limited LSU to 15 runs over 5 games. It was their year.

Paul Mainieri is a good coach. Mental errors and base running mistakes can derail a series but LSU lost to a better squad this season.

It's difficult to lose but you can't have that "All or Nothing" mentality. Either you have it all or you are a failure. That is a common fallacy in cognitive behavioral therapy. People feel letdown if results in life are not perfect. Sometimes it's ok to to not have perfection because humans are by nature imperfect. Being the second best team is a reason to be proud. Expecting perfection every year will lead to a depressing life.

I was upset at first, but then I remembered it was only baseball.
Actually it reminded me how mch fun LSU baseball is. The past few years I haven' t really watched any games until the tournament. Especially with the great freshmen we had this year, now I want to watch a lot more next season. It was a fun ride to the finals, and you can't win them all (unless you're Skip Bertman).

I seriously think or at least hope this year open some people's eyes to really how hard it is to win a national championship in baseball. LSU went 9-3 in the NCAA tourney, had to beat a division team with a golden spikes finalist that they had already swept to get to Omaha, lost their number three(some say number 2) pitcher, beat one of the all time greatest coaches twice in 5 days, beat a team having an all time great season twice in two days, and still had to play a team that threw a top 5 pick in the draft next year game one, three quality arms in game two and played flawless defense.

LSU made mistakes and plenty of them all year and some that cost them a game yesterday but to look back a day later and call this season a failure is just plain wrong. It was a great season just not one of the greatest seasons.

He won every final he was in and is one of if not the best coach in the history of the sport but people on here act like Skip never made a mistake, bad decision, or didn't have disappointing finishes to seasons. Winning 5 out of 10 NC's helps wipe out that memory but honestly did people really think LSU was going to be able to keep winning at that pace?

Geauxtigers33:

Excellent point. Nick Saban lost in the finals last season. The Boston Celtics, The Lakers, The Spurs, The New England Patriots, The great Peyton Manning have all lost championship finals. The Yankees organization has won 26 championships and still lost in the WS. Perfection doesn't last if you participate enough times.

Agree with you, 100%. The so-called negatigers likely have never strapped on a jock in their lives and expect perfection from college athletes. Great season!

The game can be quickened

Thought there was already a "between pitches" time limit..isn't that what the countdown clock at on the center field fence at the Box is for?...but is never used.

Make coaches call for the reliever sooner when they get to mound. They already know what they plan to do when they leave the dugout...and don't tell me the 2-3 extra pitches the reliever gets while the coach picks his nose makes a difference on the pitcher coming in being "ready".

The coach and the team made a heck of a run. It was a great year and the team showed a lot of character beating OSU twice to make it to the championship series. We all (players, coaches, fans) would have liked it if the team won the whole thing. There's a difference between that and pointing fingers at the coach or the team after a championship loss. No one wins every time they make it to a championship series. We lost to a great Florida team and my hats off to them and to the Tigers. I'm proud of the team. I look forward to next season confident that the team is back at an elite level. Great job, team!
