Dude, I would be f**king ecstatic for the season! Think about it, that would mean the team that did make it there, would bring back

Offense
Starting QB, every WR minus Dural (3 with 2 years of experience), every TE minus Gordon (2 with 2 years of experience), starting FB, and 3 starting OL

Defense
All 4 starting DL, at least 1 starting safety and corner, and hopefully Beckwith at LB.

We'll have experienced depth everywhere and experienced starters everywhere.

with all the unknowns going into this year? hell yea, I'd take it. We'd be top 5 going into 2016 with a much experienced class.

If THIS year's LSU team got into the playoffs, they'd be #1 going into 2016.

Yeah I think I'd settle for a top 4 finish, which probably would've included a Bama win and SEC title.

I would take an SEC title and playoff loss. We talkin' football, right?

Make it the title game, though.

I'd settle for 10 wins as of now. But I'm not too optimistic.

Why would anyone "settle" for a loss? One of the biggest sore spots for many of us on this board was the loss to Bama at the end of the 2011 season, and that was in the championship game. Sure, it's a nice accomplishment to make the playoff, but it's always been extremely disappointing to me when LSU has a chance to win a championship and doesn't come through. For me, that's worse than not even being in the mix.

Considering that LSU is staring down the barrel of another certain 5 loss season, I'd be ecstatic with a playoff appearance. It would be a miracle to make it there.

Clearly that would be an outstanding year and clearly the rant would be upset over the loss for awhile...myself included. I look back at 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011 as great years for Tiger football. Many other good years as well.

The great aspect about any season, is seeing how it unfolds.

Since Spiderman can clearly predict the future, we need to get his picks against the spread, so we can all increase our cash with his genius.

Its championship or bust for most of these clowns. And we aren't talking about sec championship.

And somehow it makes you settle for mediocrity if you don't want the coach fired for not winning one. Only 5 teams have won one since we did, we play 3 of those teams every season.

Yes.

The standard has dropped. Losing in a playoff beats the hell out of losing to Clemson and a 5-loss ND team with their QB making his first start.

Losing a playoff game means you're relevant.

Get to the Dance and lose! Not fun. But I am a conspiracy theorist and think Betting controls the game. We should have not played for the NC game against y'all in 2012 and we should have lost to you guys last year and the Year Mcarron cried in your stadium. Both times at end of games you guys went to prevent After playing man to man the whole game. I knew we would represent playoff system last year due to our national fan base Call me crazy but this is how I see it. also last year when Ohio st leaped frogged TCU I knew we BAMA would get beat.

I appreciate your sentiments TDBama. In all three games, Bama didn't exactly dominate on offense, but made the plays when they needed them. In 2012, LSU didn't even try for a 4th and one which would have sealed the game and 2014 LSU made a stupid penalty and you guys took advantage. In 2011, I thought you guys would win when Andrews asked Les about playing Bama again on the bus to the stadium and he said "one day I'll tell you what I think about that".

Would definitely be pleased. It would more than likely mean that we won the west and the SEC. I would be more than pleased.

See a lot of posts in this thread with "Yes I would settle". IMO, that is what separates LSU fans from BAMA in football, as well as the two head coaches of the programs, and it shows when NC are counted between the two!!

Actually its not the loss but the way the team lost. CLM deer in the headlights and unwilling to try anything different the whole game. Unwilling/unable to change anything for 4 quarters. Not many coaches would not change anything for a full 60 minutes of football.

Depends against whom and how bad the loss was.

Not really. Getting there with either of the QBs would be a great sign for the future.

LSU can cycle up and down as QBs graduate, but sustained 3+ loss seasons is not good enough, imo. I'd say a legit NC run every 4 years, SEC title contention in November 1/2 years and sec west title every 3/4 years.

All subject to change when Saban leaves Bama.

Of course, the letdown of losing would suck, but I would be happy with the overall success of getting there.

Although, I would have just rathered win some meaningless bowl game instead of losing to BAMA in the 2012 BSCCG.
