Say we make it, and lose in the first round.

Would you be happy with the success, or would you be disappointed that we got that far without anything to show?

This appears to be a no brainer question, yet im willing to bet some of our fans would be pissed.

99% of the rant thinks the talent we have is better than 100% of other teams and there's no excuse to lose more than 0 games.

1/9

That was the title game, even better than your scenario. People still aren't over it and some never will be. Greatest season in the history of college football if LSU wins that game. Look at the teams they beat. People act like that team went 6-6.

I don't want to settle for that but it would be progress.

If it also includes an SEC championship, sure.

That's the goal every year for me. Can't predict the national landscape, just gotta focus on beating your peers.

I've never seen anyone act like that team was mediocre because they lost a rematch to an undeserving team. I passionately believe that LSU was the best team that year and that team was one of the GOATs

with all the unknowns going into this year? hell yea, I'd take it. We'd be top 5 going into 2016 with a much experienced class.

Any rational fan would be disappointed in the loss, but given what we know (or don't) about our QB situation and a new DC making the playoffs would be a resounding success.

This being the rant most fricktards will bitch and moan and want the coach fired.

"settle" for being a top 4 team in the playoffs. Well, I think the op has his answer.

But the ride was still amazing. You can be disappointed in that performance and the mistakes that were made while appreciating the season as a whole.

I had a blast. Then again, I had fun last year too...outside of R-Kansas and Auburn

I would say most are long over that game, they're not over Les Miles being the HC at LSU. Most that still bitch about it have been bitching since the Arizona State game in 2005, and will continue to do so.

To answer your question it would certainly be an improvement over the last few years. That said, who among us wouldn't be disappointed to close the season with a loss?

How we feel immediately after the game is likely very different than how we'll feel a month later.

Also, part of the equation with 1/9 is that the loss was to Bama. Those always hurt worse than just about any other.

While I see what you saying and agree with the facts of the team and season, that is not why people were/ are mad/ disappointed/ etc.

For some, 1/9 proved what they "knew" Les has faults, etc, etc (no need to bore you with particulars).

For others 1/9, was a chance to put a stake in the dragon's heart - 2 wins vs. Bama in a season and one was for the NC. Doing it all against all the odds and having to play/ win against they twice...of course we wanted it badly.

Those 2 can also be combined as well. Roll it all up and you basically have people that could sense all the more that could come from winning 1 more game.

...... Lastly, you were also struck by the WAY we played that game... and NO one has a good excuse for that.

====== 1/9 will live until we bury it below other great wins.

This makes 1/9 hurt a little more plus add losing to Bama and the way Les Miles coached. A SEC title and a loss would be more than I am expecting this year and of course would be a great year.

I'd be happy with the season as a whole but I'd be pissed about some dumb shite Miles did to give the first round game away.

A playoff spot means we won the West and the SECCG with a pretty young team. I'll take that all day.
