I disagree with this, but in a big-picture way that indicts the whole bullshyte bowl process.

To me, it's shitty that it's a beauty contest. It should be picked in a similar way to an NCAA playoff -- based on a dispassionate analysis of a team's body of work, not on the marketability for a specific bowl game.

LSU was the best of the 2-loss SEC teams. The rankings reflect it, the 2-0 record vs. the other 2-loss teams reflects it. Given that, by any dispassionate analysis, LSU should have been the best of the two-loss teams, meaning the No. 3 team in the SEC behind Alabama and Florida.

That means they should not have slipped behind the Capital One/Cotton. No way...

EXCEPT when you look at the shitty way bowl matchups are selected. Then it makes, uhm, sense. But only within that shitty context.

I'd prefer a better bowl against an inferior opponent.

Besides Clemson doesn't excite me anyway. If we were playing FSU in the chicken bowl then my answer might be different.

A worse team than Clemson?

Is there one?

LSU has very little to gain in this bowl game.

Wow! Really? Any bowl win is a good thing. Especially over quality opponent in an area we recruit heavily. Last I checked I think we have players from both Georgia and South Carolina. Let's keep those pipelines open!

A win will end the season on a strong note, with a better record, a higher ranking and, even more importantly, set the team up with a higher pre-season ranking going into next year, and where you start can make all the difference. So seems pretty simple to me.

That way the media can slobber all over them in the offseason. Basically annoit them champs for next year, regardless of the ridiculously easy schedule they are getting

I get that Bama's "road was easier" but please, please, please people, just GET OVER IT! We had our chances to beat Bama and didn't, so that's the way it goes sometimes and it makes all the difference!!

Clemson is one of those dangerous but wholly uninteresting teams for which LSU gets a yawn if we win but be laughed at if we lose. Clemson has a dangerous offense but beating them won't garner a blip nationally.

Wow, how can you not get excited about the match up if not the bowl. Clemson came into the season highly touted, and Dabo is, in my view, very overrated and arrogant but he and his team keeps receiving love from the national media (even after last year's bowl embarrassment). I love the match up (though I would have rather it be OK if not a BCS bowl), but it is still a great match up and I can't wait for the Tigers to stick it to the paper tigers and their arrogant coach.

Idk why people are bitching about this. I couldn't be more excited. None of you fricks are true Tiger fans through the thick and thin. Que the old bandwagon geezers. "I sat through some terrible years and I'm still a fan! Wahh!"

Um, not everyone that wants to go to this game is 20. There are thousands of fans like myself who have wives that value NYE. In my relationship (because of my wife), it trumps birthdays and Valentines Day. So I (and many other fans)will not be in Atlanta for that reason.

Yeah I'm not disagreeing with you either. I just personally don't care about seeing Clemson even though this is a good matchup and all that. I know I'm not being rational but that's ok since I'm just a fan.

I think he's talking about next year when LSU plays UGA and Florida while Bama plays KY and Tenn, thereby almost assuring Bama the west crown. A schedule made by a Bama grad.

Its a night game against a solid ACC team in a nice stadium...granted i will have really good seats which helps but i came to the game vs. clemson in '96 and sat way up in the upper deck. I also sat in the upper deck in the comeback win vs. Ga. tech. Its also the only game that night...LSU football at night is hard to come by these days...especially against a good team...you have all day to get ready...weather is supposed to be pretty good ! Looking forward to being in that number ! Geaux tigers !!
