I want to see the offense score more than 13 points, so I want to see us play ND.

As dumb as it sounds, there was a chance to lose against Texas. ND is just terrible right now, they may need kids to play both ways (j/k).

We needed the weakest national opponent we could find. It couldn't be a better situation.

shite, we may throw for 15O, have a real breakout with AJ. Fournette goes over 1000.

Texas has a decent defense at times.

I think you would have had a few more show in Houston, But hey this team is maybe getting punished for its poor performance this year. 8-4 is NOT very attractive anyway. The only saving Grace is that we are playing NOTRE DAME.....

Playing Texas in Houston would not have done us that much anyway, Esp if we were to lose....

I just feel playing Texas in Texas is a better game for LSU than Notre Dame from the recruiting side of the ball. With a few exceptions "Jerry Tillery for example" LSU and Texas compete for the same recruits more than LSU and Notre Dame. Both schools are storied programs so from that standpoint it is a wash, I just feel we will get better exposure in the Texas bowl especially because of the time slot than in Nashville. I have nothing against Nashville just playing at 2pm on Tuesday the 30th, which is not an official day off for most people, instead of playing in prime time at 8pm on Monday the 29th is not going to give us as much of a national audience.

Personally I would have much preferred playing and beating UT in the Texas Bowl, just think it would have helped LSU recruiting some what when we have those head-2-head battles with Texas for recruits.

Really anxious to see how many actually show up in Nashville for the game. And, I hope everyone arguing in favor of Nashville make it.

Do you have any idea how large our alumni base is that lives within 100 miles of Houston?

ND will bring a ton of fans... My point is that IF I could I would NOT go simply because of the teams play this year... If I want to travel 8 hrs I want to see more than Pitch right, pitch left .toss dive and punt all day......

I can watch on TV. Sadly I am sure a bunch of the fanbase feels this way.....

What about LSU??

If we cant sell our allotment of tickets given to the school this will be the 3rd year in a row that we can't even break even, thus the school has to waste moeny.

I have no problem with ND but we should have taken the Texas bowl because of the fans that would've attended and the kickoff time

Please explain how this all affects recruiting. I am dying to know the answer. So the fact that LSU is playing a game in the state of Texas is going to help recruiting HOW? Billy Bob recruit in Texas is all of a sudden going to be interested in LSU because they are playing a bowl game in his town? You do realize that Billy Bob has cable and can watch every single bowl game on TV, regardless of where it is played. And do explain your logic that the winner of a bowl game between Texas and LSU is going to affect where recruits go. This whole argument has been thrown around here a lot and I really don't understand it. You people tend to make stuff up as you go along and then run with it.

We get it. Nashville is a great city. The problem is the distance. With the type of season that LSU had, bowl tickets were gonna be a tough sell anyway. Having us play close to home in a city with a major LSU alumni presence would've lessened the sting for a lot of fans and I think we'd have brought a sizeable contingent to Houston. I don't feel the same about Nashville. The game is the middle of the week, in the afternoon, in a city that is at least an 8 hour drive from Baton Rouge. During the holidays, people don't have a lot of extra money to spend, so Houston would've been a cheaper destination as well. Throw into the mix that Tennessee can get nasty cold in late December/early January, and you have the makings of a poor fan turnout, which is the last thing that LSU wants.

If LSU's fanbase doesn't travel well to a wonderful city to watch us play Notre Dame, we don't deserve to go bowling.

I have already had a dozen people ask me where to stay in Nashville. I think we're going to travel better than you think, sorry you can't make it. I'm sure most people will make a wonderful little vacation out of it and stick around for NYE, which is fun as hell here.

This argument is dumb and tired.

LSU will get way more press playing Notre Dame than they would playing an even worse Texas team.

So the people traveling to see LSU on Monday night won't have to miss work on Monday AND Tuesday?

WTF

I agree the time slot isn't great, but that is the only thing not better about Music City Bowl.

Man, get out of the South. Notre Dame is on headlines in New York and LA even when they have crap seasons. Its a much, much bigger national draw.

Also, LSU has already played in Houston and College Station this year. You think those out-of-towners that went to that game will pay to travel to fricking Houston again?

Give me a break.

First off hardly any LSU fans traveled to College Station, I was at that game

Second, Houston has a shite ton of LSU alumni who would love to just drive 10 min to the game

Third,

When we played in the Cotton Bowl in 2010 nobody bitched because we were going to play in it later that year. And fyi we sold out for both games..

This alone is reason enough to play in Houston. Guaranteed ticket sales.

Trying to compare Cotton Bowl and Texas Bowl is not doing your argument any justice.

One is an historic, top bowl and played on New Years Day (and in Jerry World), the other is played on December 29th in Houston.

Also, people probably didn't bitch because we were playing Oregon in Jerry World when it was new the next year and were preseason top 5.

Also, to people claiming lost revenue, LSU's program makes exponentially more money annually than we would with bowl ticket sales. We have a surplus in revenue.

We aren't some small school in a shite conference that needs the bowl game revenue to survive and compete.

I'd argue that the extra publicity we'd get playing Notre Dame in a new, national market that isn't already heavily saturated with LSU fans will be more valuable in the long run.

For the time slot only. I love the idea of playing ND over Texas. Not sure why, but I think it would be fun to curb stomp them

I'd prefer NashVegas. Its somewhere new that LSU hasn't been before. Should be a fun trip for the fans. The only thing that sucks is the game time.

As an ND grad working with LSU people this is a matchup made in heaven for me. I've become a huge Tiger fan and I'm going with LSU in this one but I love the idea of playing ND.

For the record there is no more arrogant and self satisfied fan base in the country than the one in South Bend. They truly believe they are college football.
