I think people legit think that if our defense doesn't go 3 and out on every drive they aren't a good defense.

Stopped reading right there- it told me all I needed to know about your logic- and gave you a down vote.

Our defensive stats say that LSU is one of the top defenses in the country. I just don't see it. LSU has played some very poor offenses this year. Missouri's offense is way overrated and has done nothing against decent competition. I think LSU is going to have to score a lot of points this weekend to keep up with Chad Kelly and company. Hope they are up for it.

Do you think it's possible that the defense will be fired up to play Ole Miss at home, and play their best game of the year thus far? Perhaps stats don't always tell the whole story.

I think LSU lacks the stud defensive linemen they've had in the past that were great run stuffers. I think you'll see better teams have much greater success running the ball than the teams LSU has played thus far. BC of this, LSU will have to commit more resources to stopping the run, and will thereby be more exposed to passing. This is from observations, not from statistics. We shall see. I hope that I am wrong.

I hope we win 70-10. And Chad Kelly tries to fight huge freeze on the sidelines.

very poor offenses

Southern Miss was rated #4 in FBS prior to the LSU game, with over 500 yards/gm. Not a poor offense

I don't disagree with the idea that our D hasn't been perfect or that Ole Miss will be our biggest test thus far. But I also think our D is getting better as the season progresses. What I really like, though, is that we might actually be able to win a game if Ole Miss scores 24-28 points. You need to be able to win higher scoring games these days.

LSU hasn't played an offense this year that's even remotely close to our talent level. This is the first week we're playing a team with a pulse offensively and who has the talent to challenge us. Southern Miss isn't even close talent wise. This will be our defense's first big challenge. We'll see how they hold up.

Bama allowed 43 points.

Bama scored 43. They gave up 38. The point stands though.

Auburn's offense is underrated, IMO. I think they're a lot better than they're being given credit for.

I think our D is strong and talented but yes stats are influenced by competition.

Both Missouri and Southern Miss had chances to connect on some big passes. They would not have changed the outcome of those games significantly probably but each one had at least a 60+ yds TD there for the taking. Hard to see teams like Ole Miss, Bama, etc with better players not taking advantage.

LSU will need to score some points no doubt.

Ole Miss is giving up 4.5 yards per rush. Guice is averaging 9.1 yards per rush. We're gonna see a run-heavy offense, lopsided TOP favoring LSU.

I expect Ole Miss to score some points and hit some big plays on us. I also expect them to turn it over some and we will put pressure on Kelly. Just because Ole Miss hits some plays doesnt make us an overrated defense. I think we win this one by 10 to 14 points running the ball in the second half.

The old hedging your bet move. Classic rant.

I think what you have to consider is you watch LSU differently than you watch other teams. You are emotionally invested, so giving up a 3rd and long is going to stand out and stay with you more than if you were watching another defense play. Stats don't lie(though you do have to put them in context). Your eyes on the other hand....

I agree. I don't think our defense has proven a whole lot. I hope they are able to keep Ole Miss and Kelley in check. I have some concerns as they seem to have the tendency to give up big plays on occasion. I just don't think they are that dominant yet due to not having played stronger competition.

We will control the clock with guice and fournette running the ball. Keep ole miss offense off the field is key to Victory.
