I'd prefer if he and LN redshirt. LN to heal that acl up, and Brennan to add some weight.

Etling start with L.Scott backup. Year after a 3 way battle for starter.

I don't like to put a lot of hope in a true fresh starting in the SEC, ease him in until he's ready

Also is Brennan even enrolling early?

Call me crazy but I believe that this should be the criteria for who starts at every position.

I am a big Myles supporter but there is no way a freshman is starting next year. Even Myles doesn't expect to start next year.... but but Jalen Hurts....not the same, Bama did not have a returning starter and duel threats can hide their faults as a passer, when things break down all they have to do is take off.

This. What Jalen Hurts is doing (and keep in mind it's with a ridiculously opportunistic defense and special teams) is pretty much unprecedented.

Etling will be fine next year. No need to throw Brennan into the fire too soon. RS next year, open competition spring '18

He's always considered redshirting at LSU. Being only 17 years old, he realizes the need to get stronger.

Very few true freshman are ready to start game one in the SEC, especially QB's.

DE's experience will be hard to over look and over take. I hope BH gets a fair shot and clean slate with the new staff as well.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if starting in spring we start hearing rumblings about Lindsey Scott making a serious push to take the job from Etling. IMO you're not gonna be able to keep Scott from getting on the field in some form next season.

I feel Brennan needs to gain some muscle weight before he sees the field full time.

Man, I feel bad for Scott and McMillan. Their time as the "next great QBs in LSU history" is over before it ever began! LSU has a long history of backup QBs being surefire all-Americans if only the coaches weren't too stupid to play them. Scott and McMillan didn't even get a chance to sit on the bench and irrationally develop into legendary folk heroes among the fans (without playing a significant snap) and now they've been passed up by a true freshman who has never participated in a college practice.

Sarcasm aside, LSU (at the moment) has two Senior QBs on the roster next year who both have significant college experience. I suspect one of those two guys are probably a little better suited to lead the show than Brennan right now.

Etling is showing strides. He'd have to be pretty phenomenal to replace a senior QB coming off a 300 yard passing preformance. I expect him to have stays just as good vs Louisville.

99% chance he redshirts.
