Sure facts are facts, but they don't mean much without context.

For instance, Jordan Jefferson has far superior stats at LSU than Bert Jones did, including completion percentage.

Who is more highly regarded?

Context is important.

that is how you become Texas

Texas was already in a death spiral during Mack's final years. Even if Strong can't fix it, it wasn't getting better under Mack.

We weren't as awful as Texas, but we were absolutely in a multi-year decline and it wasn't getting better, judging by last November and the first part of the this season under Miles.

Every rational person knows the move had to be made.

You were doing OK until you came up with the tired argument that more NFL players = better college team/talent.

Question is where is LSU headed?

I think a day will come sooner rather than later when we will beg for 72% winning percentage.
or better yet, let's shorten the sample size.

he was 0.50000000000 this year before he was fired, and that's before the schedule got difficult.

yeah, we all know where it was headed, Mike.

that is exactly what it means. So you are saying people that dont play in the NFL are more talented than those who do? Thats ignorant. If yo have the most players in the NFL, You should not be going 4-4 in the sec.

You really don't know football if you compare LSU to Texas when it comes to recruiting. Texas'biggest problem recruiting is that A&M joined the SEC. So unless ULL or ULM turn into a big time program and join a power 5 I think we will be fine.

Texas has a bigger population. They can support multiple teams. You fail again.

And if you don't make the rt hire, I assure you teams like texas and tamu will poach players from LA. Like a Leonard Fournette.

Considering players only play for 3 years now a days, not all of those players were on the same teams. Spread out over years, which is why only Ohio state has a comparable record over the past 15 years or so. No one has as many consecutive seasons of at least 8 wins as LSU. That's the result of the most players in the NFL.

The answer is up, because we finally got rid of that nice person but Gawd awful coach Les Miles. Indeed, Coach O represents a significant upgrade to Miles and he is just auditioning for the job.

Thankfully Miles recruited smarter than Mack did. Mack was a lazy recruiter in that he would finish his classes in the summer before the player's senior year.

It was like clockwork every summer at junior day they would get 20 commits. The problem is that a lot of the good o-line are late bloomers. This is why they haven't had an O-linemen drafted since 2007

No, what is ignorant is the flawed logic. Would a team with 15 NFL candidate players with every other player being of high school quality be a great team?

We had some meth head down here who was obsessed with the "LSU - NFL" argument. When you look at the list of teams based on NFL players, you can see there is no correlation. Penn State has 30, as just one example. It is no powerhouse now.

no what it means is that the coach underachieved per his talent by losing to teams with inferior talent.

this is where your logic is flawed.

also, looking at this list shows a pretty damn strong correlation to number of NFL players to success in college. Top 5 are Ohio state, LSU, Bama, Florida and Florida state. Other teams include Clemson, Notre dame, Georgia. Notice the 3 schools that have underachieved LSU, Georgia and Florida have fired coaches in recent years.

That is why LSU needs to hire a PROVEN head coach instead of coordinator or position coach like Orgeron.

Look at Miles record in September against mostly cupcakes compared to November when it counted since 2012!

I feel like people haven't figured out yet that the years of going to a bowl game = success are over. Since the creation of the BCS and now a playoff, the standard is championship contention for better or worse.

This has shifted the expectations, and frankly, people don't really give a shite between 3-9 and 8-4 with a bowl win.

I'm assuming this is all games? Can you do the same time period for SEC games only?

To be fair, look at USC and Tennessee.

I agree it was time for a change. But the I think the OP is pointing out that a 72% winning percentage doesn't grow on trees.

LSU needs to be very careful in the next hire as talent alone will not get it done.
