we could be seeing more attrition. dude is def looking to cut some fat off this team

quote:

We’ve got two or three who are teetering on if they want to jump all the way in and make all that progress, or if maybe it may be a little too challenging for them. We’re fine either way. I like to tell people all the time, in our program, you’re going to sink or swim. There’s nobody going to be floating. You’re not going to float. You’re going to sink, or you’re going to swim. One of the two. There’s nobody that’s just going to float on top of the water with us.

There is no safer bet in the history of mankind than to put money on one of them being Elbert.

Patterson is likely another one.

I feel like he started off saying sink or swim and then he had one player that was like "what if we just float, coach?" So now he has to say this bit about no floating every time.

Sounds like the swim team is in good hands, now let's see if we can get the basketball team going.

Seriously, talk is cheap, and its exciting to get a young, energetic guy in here to coach hoops; but for one reason or another our basketball hires have been failures under Joe Alleva.

I'm not going to fall over because the coach is saying the right things, John Brady said the right things; and his tenure was a roller coaster. I'm going to wait and see, but so far so good.

I guess JJ had a bunch of floaters, himself included.

That could still be not saying much.

He has GOT to learn how to defend without fouling, that's his biggest weakness to me. HE committed a foul once every 3.6 minutes last season. That's the worst rate for any scholarship player on our roster last year, the year before that and the year before that...

You just cant play much if is all you're going to do when your man gets the ball around the bucket is hack him and send him to the line.

He's just very hit or miss. When things are going good, he's a force on defense and a decent deep threat, when things are bad though, he just seems to be going through the motions and at times, pouty.

Poor Elbert can't keep up with the intensity Wade demands. You could see that coming from the beginning

The good news is it hasn't just been talk with Wade so far.

He could have came in, and just dealt with the roster and recruiting class handed to him. It seemed like JJ was fine with just bringing in Galen Alexander and Brandon Rachal. Wade was obviously not. The first thing he did was see our glaring weakness at the big man spot and got to flip his 4-star PF from VCU over to here (Mayan Kiir). Then he was dealt a terrible blow when Blakeney decided to head out, and what does he do? Go out and take a 6'4 JUCO kid who shoots 46.6% from 3. Not just "Deal with it" like you know johnny would have. That kid had offers from Iowa State and UNLV, but chose us.

Since he has lost Jenkins and Hayward, 2 of the worst players on last year's team, and with 1 spot still available, is trying to fill it with a top notch player like Mark Alstork, or could turn to the McD 35 duo from UMass with 1 more player leaving.

He's been pretty relentless in getting guys who can contribute in here and not shedding a tear for the guys who couldn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sampson is one. Patterson is definitely one.

If Wade has Brady type success you should be kissing his arse.
