Career conference win % of .643

When hiring a mid major, would like to see that .750 or higher

If we get Wade we hit a homerun for Lsu

Young blood, never failed, has been the top of his conference every year

Not defending jones, just more of an accuracy in stats:

Wade inherited a great program and has maintained it. Jones built UNT into a nice low-major program. Jones win percentage was much better his last few years after his program was established.

I agree that Wade would be a homerun. Some say he is winning with Shaka players. When Shaka went to Texas, he left a team that graduated 3 players, then lost 3 players to transfer after Shaka's announcement, then lost almost all of Shaka's recruits. He had 2 players below the NCAA limit. But despite that, in his first year he rebuilt the squad and made it to the Tournament and advanced to the 3rd round.

If LSU does not hire him, I would at least advise our AD to call the VCU brain-trust and ask them who they would hire if they were looking for a coach. Since 2002 VCU has had to search for 4 coaches. Over that 15 year span the subsequent 4 coaching staffs had a combined .728 win percentage and 13 post-season appearances, advancing past 1st round of NCAA 7 out of 10 times.

Anthony Grant failed hard at Bama. Shaka has been very underwhelming at Texas, though next year he has a solid class coming in.

What makes Wade different from his VCU predecessors? I'm not doubting him, just skeptical.

What makes him different is that unlike Jeff Capel, Grant and Smart, who were all assistants before VCU hired them as first-time head coaches, Wade built a program at Tennessee-Chattanooga first before being hired.

The VCU curse, if you will, is a concern. But his career track is different than those guys. And I would say he's a better coach than any of them.
