In case you missed the end of the Orange bowl:

Clemson has the ball around midfield, less than a minute left. Ohio St has 2 timeouts left. So you can run the clock out, right?

Not so fast- Clemson player gets penalized after 1st down, running onto the field with no helmet. 15 yd penalty, and as the ref announced, "the clock will start with the snap". 31 seconds left, 2nd and long. Clemson lines up and kneels...

Call timeout, and it's 3rd and long with 29 secs. Do it again and it's 4th and long, around 27 secs. Make them punt. You can block it; scoop and score for the W, or at least get decent field position for a couple plays. You can return it; a run-back wins it. Worst case, you get pinned deep with time for 1-2 plays. Stranger things have happened; it's worth at least trying. shite, Ferentz made Les work our last possession, when there was much less time left on the clock.

Urban Meyer chose to let the clock run out. Nobody calls him out on it, either.

The tv graphic was wrong, OSU had 1 timeout.

i just wish some of the posters on this board would become ohio state fans so meyer could get called out and blamed for everything. it's not fair that LSU has so many negative fans and other schools have so few. but i think the media will call meyer out, esp if you consider internet bloggers the media.

Ok, that makes more sense... but also piss-poor of ESPN to not correct the graphic. There's another close game on, at the same time- plenty of people surfing back and forth, might have missed the TO's called (like me).

I was wondering why the heck Meyer kept Miller in the game, he was obviously banged up pretty bad and Kenny Guiton is a very good back up.

Nobody even mentioned it.

Not that I'm complaining.

tOSU losing + Meyer crying= Me happy.

How about Clemson stupidly throwing the ball at the end of the game with a lead and very little clock left? They end up throwing a pick. If I remember correctly, it was an early down and no reason to not have run the ball and burned clock. They got lucky when Ohio State threw it right back to them.

Rooting for the Clemson Tigers was almost as frustrating as rooting for the LSU Tigers!

Hell, if Clemson had run the ball on 3rd down forcing osu to call a timeout things probably could have been easier. Instead they passed on third and long resulting in a interception and putting osu in great shape.

Lucky for them, they got a turnover too. But that is why you run the ball.

Yeah, we could all see Les doing something like that, huh? (Oh wait...did it in the Chicken Bowl...nevermind)

Well to me these coaches are making similar mistakes. Hell lord sabans team started sinking in the moo state game. No coach is perfect, just be glad we have a good one.

I actually thought it was a good call to throw it. With the way the offenses were playing, going for the first down, and the victory, was the way to go. They run it, OSU calls a timeout, they still have plenty of time to move the ball.

Now the actual play call is not what I would have done. I would have done something higher percentage, but maybe Boyd comples 80% of those during the year?

There are way too many examples of teams running, punting with a minute thirty left, and losing the game. Hell, the Saints have done it a few times this season with the MOST accurate QB in the NFL (so you'd think they'd risk throwing it).

Going conservative with the way offenses can move the ball, stop the clock and score is not always the right thing to do.

It was third down and long when Clemson threw the pick. OSU still had a timeout, there was 1:30 left on the clock. I guess Clemson could have run the ball just like the Saints did vs Carolina. How'd that work out?

Put your values somewhere else that actually matter and you might not be so frustrated...college coaches are not very smart, just in case you haven't figured that out yet...and the media definitely has a political agenda, but most fans are so desperate and slavish that they just keep sucking it up...as your country is stolen right in front of your eyes, I wonder how much energy you are deploying in that direction...lol...just saying....lol
