not sure if they said what the injury was. I only know that it was reported shortly after the auburn game that he was good to go vs georgia.

let me put it the nicest way I can, they are far from elite. no matter what, we are in for a dog fight and our defense will be a major part of the equasion. I fully trust that Chavis and staff will have them ready and that is all we can truely ask for.

get better, get ready...get even.

Watched Georgia multiple times this year, and while they have talent, this is not the pass rushing monster defense that featured Jarvis jones, John Jenkins, ogletree, Rambo, and Boykin. They have not been very good rushing the passer despite young talented players so far, and I don't think it will change that much against a solid LSU O line. A lot will fall on mett making the right checks at the line, blitz pick up by the backs, etc. Sure their defense will be fired up, but I like our chances.

I feel good about the defense. They obviously need to figure out how to improve on our DTs consistency at "getting a mitt" on the RBs as they cross the line but outside of that, I have faith in the defense improving steadily as a whole going forward.

If the dogs can't rush for more than 130 yards total against us then Murray will have to thread multiple needles to keep this game close. If the DL can not only play an adequate role in the rushing game and contain contain Murray well enough to pressure his throws then this game might be a blow out.

That said, I see us winning impressively. The Tigers are too used to impressive crowds to allow Geo to maintain too much of a home field advantage. The only school that truly has a home field advantage over the Tigers IMO is Florida's swamp.

To be fair (at least as it relates to the topic in the OP) we've only played 1 pocket QB and they scored 7 points on our defense. The other 2 QBs we've faced were Tajh Boyd and Conner Shaw.

Our Oline is a lot better than any team you've faced so far. FWIW

They key, IMO, is if we can get pressure on Murray. If we can, game over.

The pressure will have to come from coverage. These teams are so similar except for a few I see glaring difference sin.

One, our special teams is just better, in every aspect.

Two, while Murray and Mett have similar stats, Mett relies heavily on two recievers while Murray has spread the love, with I think like 4 or 5 guys with ten receptions.

If LSU can get some coverage sacks and force them into some obvious passing situations and an extra punt or two, I think that might be the difference.

No they won't, and neither will LSU.

We are healthy on the front end of a murderous SEC run. I think we roll Saturday, but if our O line takes some injury hits Mett may not have that much pocket time down the line.

The real test is how we stand up in November.

See y'all in Athens Saturday!

the dl will be fine. vs aub LSU was up the whole time, against a qb that is horrible, even though he did hit 3 long passes. LSU was daring them to run the ball, and run clock. they did run the ball, and the clock ran out on them. dont let the stats vs aub scare you. that was a calculated decision by les.

the pocket collapsed a few times on him in the Auburn game resulting in some ugly sacks. First time that's happened all year. I'm a little concerned about it myself because Mett's success is tied very closely to good protection because as we all know he can't scramble and his pocket presence hasn't been great in the past, but is improving. His better play is still a direct result of excellent protection. The slightest pressure can completely alter the course of any given play and if it happens just enough can also alter the outcome of the game as well, especially if our defense continues to be somewhat porous.

This is a very big issue. During the first four games, he sat back there for four to five seconds. Can he expect this much time on the road against a top ten team? Georgia ranks only 82nd in sacks with five (LSU is 49th with seven) If Mettenburger has time, LSU will win easily.

You have to believe Georgia will doing all they can to get to him. If they can pressure him with a 4-man rush, it won't be good for us. If they have to blitz with more, then it will come down to his ability to read it, make a decision and deliver the ball quickly and on target.

I expect Georgia to stack as many people in the box and blitz as many as they have to to stop the run and get pressure. If they have to stack more than 7 in the box and rush more than 4 to do this, we should get some matchup advantages with our WRs.

I hope the OL can give him time, because he seemed very eager to tuck it and run at the sight of any penetration or footsteps nearby vs Auburn.

I think the offense is gonna be a little more conservative in this game. More 2 WR sets with TEs and backs to help protect Mett and power running.

Miles doesn't want a shootout against UGAs offense and our defense needs to be on the sidelines as much as possible.

We don't need sacks and negative yardage plays. We need to control the clock and sustain drives to take up time and keep the UGA crowd in their seats and Murray on the sidelines.
