Will Mettenberger Have Time in the Pocket?

This is a very big issue. During the first four games, he sat back there for four to five seconds. Can he expect this much time on the road against a top ten team? Georgia ranks only 82nd in sacks with five (LSU is 49th with seven) If Mettenburger has time, LSU will win easily.

Hasn't been yet this year.
As you said, Georgia's defense has been attrocious.
I'm just worried about our D slowing down Gurley.

Uga has an elite pass rusher at olb. His name starts with an L but I can't remember it. He's a true frosh though so meh.

They key, IMO, is if we can get pressure on Murray. If we can, game over.

I think our O line is pretty good and gelling well. I'm more worried about our defense, but don't think they're as bad as a lot of people are thinking.

and that's a big IF...I do not remember getting consistent pressure on anyone.

Our D is young, not that they are bad, and are taking too long to react..they are thinking first and then reacting...precious time is wasted.

Thanks for having a real football discussion. It something very rare on the rant!

They're not.

Been playing more of the spread type offenses. Corner blitzes and aggressive DE rush isn't what the doctor ordered.

To be fair (at least as it relates to the topic in the OP) we've only played 1 pocket QB and they scored 7 points on our defense. The other 2 QBs we've faced were Tajh Boyd and Conner Shaw.
There were several times in both games where we had pressure, even had a hand on em, and they slipped away. You may look at our sacks or whatever and say we can't get pressure, but I think it's going to help our D immensely having a statue back there.
And yes, I realize that he will also pose other problems that we haven't seen from others..I'm simply saying that I do think we can get back to the QB better than LSU fans might think.

QT will be ready Saturday according to CLM.

depends on the success of the LSU running game. If we don't run well and we become one dimensional, UGA will bring da house on pass rush.

That's a damn good question. Since the OL seems to still be in tact from the Au game, I think that they will do just fine.
It isn't just the OL ya know. It will have alot to do with the specific adjustments to their adjustments as the game goes on. This is one of the many things that I really like about CCC His ability to make adjustments quickly during the game at an NFL level is what will make the biggest difference in this game as well as against other top defenses.
CCC's contributions are many.

The only protection issue I can recall was on Mett's int. I can't remember if the backup right tackle slid the wrong way or got bull-rushed back into Mett's lap. With a clean pocket that ball has a lot more on it and Mett is still sitting at 0 int's for the year. having turner back is huge. If LSU can stay healthy up front I think the protection will be fine.

Keep thinking this. Best Oline you will see the whole year
