So much physical talent. Are they really good football players or are their physical attributes just a mirage?

Not sure man maybe we can give the Freshman All American defensive tackle more than 1 game back after being injured for a full year to decide if he’s suddenly a bust or not though?

LOL. Anyone who thinks Mason is going to come back from ACL and dominate is on crack. He will take at least 4-5 games to get back into football shape and more importantly trust his knee. Give him time.

Good advice. I need to reset my expectations.

For this defense as a whole they are going to suck for awhile. Hopefully they can improve week to week but right now they are not good.

It's just as premature to say Smith is a bust as it is to say he's the best player on the team. There are retards on both sides of this. Let's see how he progresses as the season goes on. I hope he rounds into shape and kicks arse.

Smith I'm not too worried about right now. He showed promise as a true Freshman and has just played one game since his injury.

Wiggins was ALWAYS going to be a project. He has all of the desired physical attributes football coaches want. That's why he was convinced to eventually play football in HS. The question now is (1) does he have the burning desire to be a great football player (the higher the competition level the less of an advantage your natural ability is) and (2) can the coaches teach him to be a good football player? Barring injury, if by year 3 he is not getting significant PT then I think we will start to know the answer. But 2 games into year two? Not a freak out time yet. The only people disappointed are the once who erroneously thought he would come in and dominate right away.

Sure would help to have a D-line coach right now. Quency is still young and learning. Maason coming back from injury.

I fell into that group. I admittedly fell into the group of people that became enthralled with both Smith and Wiggins physical attributes starting with recruiting. Not only did I buy into the hype from the recruiting board but local sports talk hyped up these guys big time, especially Mike Detilier hyping Maason Smith. I bought into it all.

Leaves a bad taste doesn't it?
Smith has built in reasons due to injury but hes been done no favors by the coaching staff and media,LSU or otherwise, leading the charge with the hype.
Wiggins could be overrated based purely because he has tools or he could be a true victim in all the DL coach mess. Too early to know. If Savion Jones is the guide then he will be wasted by bulking him up too much.

Get a Terrebonne High coach behind closed doors and off the record, and they will almost all say that Smith has great attributes and poor work ethic.

Well in the world of the Portal, how long does he stick around if he doesn't play. Dude is a monster and a 5 star. I'd like to see him progress and get on the field. Especially with a pass rush that has been getting nothing off of the edge.

And that's it for both Smith and Wiggins. They have not lived up the the five star hype at all.

Consider Tyson Jackson’s part to playing time

Fr: redshirt
RS Fr: backup
RS Soph: starter

Smith is fine.

For Wiggins you look for him to carve a role by the end of the year and gain momentum into next year

Not with the current coaching situation and scheme.

Need to return to a 4-3 and bring back a guy like Cain.

We simply don’t have the talent to run an odd front right now. I’d rather see Quency with his hand in the dirt as a 7 tech rather than a 5i. Maason is a classic 1 tech and Wingo a 3 tech.

Maybe in high school he did. Dude has transformed his body since the end of his Sr year. Dude hasn’t played in a year and people are crying about how he played in 20 snaps vs Grambling. Pull back the shite posting
