Will he ever have the number 1 player or two top 10 players in a class?

Roster is flawed. It doesn't have a point guard. Our point guard is also our power forward.

tbf the point guard dilemma goes back to the brady years

that said quarterman is good enough to run a team, he's just not right and i'm not sure johnny knows how to fix him (i also think tim has been playing hurt since around the auburn game)

Probably not.

But we also had more success last season than this season. Still were a talented team. But experience matters in college sports.

Johnny is a bad coach, but you need to understand that there is more to a successful team than "talent". This is a fairly talented team, but it's also very flawed. The top few players are very talented, but there is a huge drop off after those few.

Will he suddenly learn how to coach? Also no.

If he makes the tourney next year by a miracle Johnny Jones will become the greatest enigma in all of sports

Scary thing is...

Next year 16-17: doubt they sniff tourney with roster they have; hope AB grows more, but not a tourney team with JJ on bench

Johnny will be fired after 0 NCAAT wins and one appearance in 5 yrs

The lame duck status and coaching change will hurt recruiting so have to figure '17-18 would be a throw away year.

So are we looking at '18-19 as the next time LSU basketball has a chance to hear they're dancing?

frick, i don't know if i can handle another prolonged stretch without a tournament

94-99 was awful

2010-2014 was bad but we at least had 2 NITs and another good team (johnny's first team which should have been NIT)

Some on the rant seem to believe Johnny is right on track and is advancing the program. No worries S, all is well

Wrong, Our power forward wants to be the point guard. I said this in early January and was blasted, about we should let Simmons be what ever he wants to be.

We see how far that has got us.

as far as COLLEGE talent goes, last years team was much more talented COLLEGE team. This team has a great pro player on it but he is not very useful in the college game in a lot of ways. Next years team might be a more talented COLLEGE team as well. Some very talented players are better suited for the pro game rather than the college game and Simmons seems to be in that category. Victor and Hornsby are good college players right now and I believe Blakeny and Sampson and Epps can also develop into good college players. Getting Simmons was both a blessing and a curse. Lot of people knocking coach JOnes but I doubt even coach K could mold this team into a tournament team.

agree 100%. Team would have been better off if Simmons would have been forced to play under the basket but I think that part of his recruitment was that we would let him play "point forward" dispite the negative effects it has had on the team.
