No. Bama's front 7 is good enough to make it hard to run on them up the middle, even with Fournette. It will require some creativity on the edges to open up the middle of that defense for Fournette.

Considering that no team has consistently put 9 in the box against us this year, I doubt Bama will be the first.

The only place where teams consistently put 9 players in the box is on the rant.

I hope I see it all night, because the only way Saban will have 9 in the box is when we are on the goal line and that bodes well for us.

Could be a chess match of Les and Nick with changing offensive and changing defensive schemes. Each coach trying to out guess the other. My gues is that sometimes Nick will win and sometimes Les will win. Both will come up with some never before seen wrinkles.

They will put 10 in the box- the front 7 plus 3 officials.

Ragland is the equivalent of about 3 defenders right now.

Very easy answer - not when we have 3 or more receivers.

Absolutely not.

I think they will start with 7 and expect moderate success. They probably think that if they can hold Fournette to 25-150, and shut down the passing game, they win.

If Fournette starts breaking off some runs, then I expect they will start run blitzing more. If that doesn't work, then they will start rolling an 8th man into the box.

Meh, consistently in this case implies that it is done the majority of the time, and that certainly was not the case against WKU. Plus, the box is not nearly as big as people imagine it is. 2 yards to the outside of either OT, and about 6-8 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. Simply seeing the safety on your TV does not mean they are in the box.

No, if you do this, you are basically in cover 0, with no help over the top. Bama's secondary is still suspect. Don't let the pick 6's against a&m fool you. They can't cover our WR's one-on-one.

I think Saban/Smart will try to stop our running game with 7. Whether they succeed or not will determine how the rest of the game plays out. LF and Co. *have* to be successful against Bama's base D. Then if they move a safety down
