I'm not sure what happened at Grambling State but I would like to see a proven veteran as the next OL coach and a LSU guy (Mawae, Sale, and Wilkerson) as TE/assistant OL coach. IMO, offensive and defensive line coaching is the second most important behind QB coaching. LSU has to get a proven veteran.

Why not get a proven coach and a proven recruiter?

Mawae's NFL career should impress any OL recruit. This guy will be in the Hall. Plus if you have ever met Mawae, he is one of the most charismatic guys you will ever meet. He was the head of the players association. He would be my pick amongst former LSU guys. I have no doubt that he can sale the program.

Wilkerson concerns me because of a conversation that I once had with his father, during the LSU-Miami Bowl game. I sat right in front of him and we talked for most of that game. He said that he didn't think too highly of Miles and that he would have not gone to LSU if it was Miles recruiting him.

Opinions can change but, that gives me a lot of concern.

That's what MANY of the guys who were there for the Saban/Miles switch said. Just two completely different philosophies. I wouldn't worry about that being so many years ago.

I still would like to get one of Cam's guys from the NFL in there.

That's an excellent point. I was shocked at how much I was told that evening. Obviously, Miles knows what he is doing given his record.

I'm sure he would do a very good job if he was hired.

Why do people keep saying this? I thought the only coach we let go was Stud. There is a coaching limit. How are we going to replace 1 coaching opening with 2 coaches? Am I missing something here? Someone move to an administrative job or something?

Id bet most of these former players are getting courtesy interviews or to fill other positions, not to be an actual line coach. Recruiting is only a part of the job so I'd prefer a guy who can turn the players into NFL caliber linemen rather than be able to tell stories of how awesome they once were.

Wouldn't shock me if he got the job.

This.

I want whoever Cam think can teach the position the way it needs to be taught in order for the offense to be as optimal as possible.

there's rumors that they've also interviewed Todd Washington, asst OL coach from the Ravens (former NFL player, college OL coach and OC as well)

The one who has been cited for three DUI's in the past two years? He'd make for a great salesman to the mother of a 17-year-old.

That's Andy Moeller (you know? Gary Moeller's son.)

The other Ravens OL coach was interviewed, Todd Washington.

And does not have Moeller's baggage.

Todd Washington Wiki

The thing that concerns me is lack of big college recruiting experience - USD and Hartford almost don't count as college experience - recruiting wise. The 3 years in the NFL was all as "assistant" OL coach.

But that's still light years ahead of the group of former players who are being considered, from an experience standpoint. Washington is also the 13th person to win a Super Bowl as both a player and a coach.

I'm just being an asshat because I'm pretty certain Washington won't be the guy, and that leaves only Moeller.

IMO, Moeller would be a PR disaster. I have also read that Jeff Grimes has interviewed for the job.
