Some school will come calling for Aranda for HC here within the next year or so. He at least brings something to the table as a coach. If Aranda leaves we're fricked. If O leaves we survive easy.

If we can't get Jimbo or Herman I'm all in for Aranda

Neither.

Love them both, but I want a proven head coach.

I'm not sure Aranda isn't as good of a recruiter as Ed. Especially after this season at LSU

Recruiting. O is a monster.

It would be nice to keep both in some capacity, even if it's at the assistant or coordinator level.

Previously, I would have disagreed with you. He has all the qualities to be a good HC. If anyone has broke the Saban code, it's Aranda. And I competely agree with your last point.

Hiring a head coach solely because he is a good recruiter is dumb as frick. O brings nothing more to the table than recruiting and the players like him. Sounds like a former LSU coach I know

look; Dave Aranda is a GREAT DC. LSU needs to keep him as a DC. he has never been a head coach and paying him in his learning curve AND losing him as a DC is a recipe for disaster. for him and LSU.

I sure as hell don't. Aranda is one thing Les did right.

Aranda wouldn't have been as competitive without those big time recruits on defense. Nobody knows if Aranda can bring them in or not.

We are better with him focusing on the defense. Pay him 2 million. Pay CEO 2.5 million. Pay kiffen 2 million.

No, LSU needs to be the school that gets him and retains him if necessary. He is worth the gamble.

Would not have agreed with you earlier but at this time I'm with you. Aranda is worth the risk, IMO.

And if that's not an option? Do we let a guaranteed defensive genius go to keep a dline coach or bring in a 4th or 5th option?

You want Aranda recruiting offensive players? Ogeron has proven to be able to go into someones house and convince them to send their 4-5 star son to play for his teams. He's done it at USC, Tennesee and LSU. I doubt Aranda has ever gone into a 5 star quarterbacks house and convinced his parents that he needs to play for his team. Ogeron has Miles Brannen locked up for LSU even though Miles is gone. That is huge. Pay Aranda what he needs to coach defense, but we need a head coach that kids want to come play for, is good with their parents, is good with media and image of the school and above all else can get us a good offensive coordinator to match our outstanding defensive coordinator.

So has Frank Wilson. So have many recruiting coordinators. That doesn't mean you make them the HC. It means you make them the recruiting coordinator.

A top 5 defense is great for the school. Is it not?

You think our administration would let O decide the next OC? What exactly has he proven to make us give him that privilege?

What exactly would be O's responsibilities once we bring in this stud OC? Recruiting? You want to pay 3 million dollars for a recruiting coordinator?

What if that's not an option? Does O need to hire a stud DC as well? Why do you want a coach so bad that has to constantly rely on better assistant coaches than himself?
