Seems like the natural order of things would have been Skip, Ben, Walker, Furniss.

Just curious if there was a reason

Eddie was a hitting machine and had better offensive numbers.

Todd was by far the better overall baseball player.

Agree. But I'm not arguing for either & it irrelevant. Just think Walker being the older of the 2 woulda got him up there first

Maybe the fact the Furniss earned his degree had a lot of weight.

LSU puts a priority on Tigers that graduate?

Furniss was 4 years and graduated (in zoology I believe) and he had the records. I am biased though.

While I don't think Ben graduated, he had golden spikes plus number 1 pick

Why worry about stuff like this when we can just be happy or the success we have?

There are some honors that require a degree. Shaq graduated in 2000. It wasn't until then that he made it into the LSU HOF.

quote:

Eligibility for the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame
To be eligible for the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame in the Athlete category, the individual must have been granted an earned baccalaureate, professional or graduate degree by LSU or by some other regionally accredited institution of higher learning, have earned one or more letters in a varsity sport at LSU, have gained national distinction through superlative performance as an athlete, and have established a personal reputation for character and citizenship which reflects favorably on the University.

Former LSU athletes are eligible for nomination only after three years or more have elapsed since the conferring of his or her degree.

To be eligible in the Coach/Administrator category, the individual must have made significant contributions to LSU Athletics in a capacity other than an athlete, have gained national distinction through exceptional accomplishments in his or her field of expertise and have established a personal reputation for character and citizenship which reflect favorably on the University.

Former LSU coaches and administrators are eligible for nomination only after five years or more have elapsed since retiring from the profession for which the individual is nominated.

I'm not sure about having numbers retired. BTW, Walker made the LSU HOF in 2006, Furniss in 2007.

Nothing in his wiki after that.

Played 4 yrs vs. 3 yrs. Very few players as good as Eddie stay for 4 yrs.
