Instead of just lining up and powering over McNeese with our run game why not open it up a little and work on the offense. Just because we can beat McNeese with the run, whether they are stacking the box or not, doesn't mean that is what we should do. That game plan is not going to work against the better teams we play so why not work on the whole offense right from the start?

Did Les come out and say he was only going to run the ball against McNeese?

I mean, the offense has been pretty much the same since Les got here. It's a ground control, drive it down the opponents throat offense, with some passing blended in (more when the QB is good, less when he's not as good).

Can you imagine the pissing and moaning if we "opened-up" the offense against McNees and chunked the ball all over the fricking place and won by 40, then the running game stalled against MSU & AU because it wasn't as in sync as it could be...BECAUSE THE TEAM DIDN'T WORK ON IT AS MUCH IN THE ONE LIVE GAME THEY HAD BEFORE PLAYING TWO STRAIGHT DIVISION OPPONENTS?!

Why show our hand? Let MS and AU think we can't pass.

because "working on developing our offense" is basically giving the upcoming SEC opponents your gameplan...

Because lining up and powering over people is our offense. You should be happy, we will run our offense all game.

If folks from a message board figure this out, how long did it take opposing DC's to figure it out and load the box against it?

I don't see many advocating going to an Aub, Ore, or A&M offense.

But the ability to complete a pass occasionally might just give opposing DC's something to think about, gameplan against, and prepare for.

This isn't about what you, me or anyone else on this board thinks to be honest.

What is at issue is what the staff's of our opponents think about LSU's O. If we can show an effective passing attack and force DC to play us honest or God forbid even play more nickel or dime against us, just think how more effective our running game could be.

I don't see many advocating moving away from being able to use a power running game but adding an effective passing attack sure couldn't hurt.

Uh, when LSU has a QB that is able to throw it accurately, then Miles has shown that he is more than willing to open that part of the game up (see Mett).

But, until that happens, he will stick with ground and pound with some dinks & dunks, and occasional long passes.
