Our home record is good because of the shitty OOC. Not the other way around.

i don't think many make sense for LSU... either play at Zephyr which is Alex Box NOLA, or play Florida State in Mobile, the most neutral site on the coast? The Longhorns in Dallas or Houston? Most other nearby states only have SEC teams, and most teams are either SEC or not worth playing

Financially, everyone knows where I stand on this.

But imagine use squeezing in a Florida State or Texas in a neutral site each season. I would go every time. Or convince Texas to do a home-home series with us since we both make more money in college baseball than 67% of the rest of the country.

We used to travel up to play Centenary at the minor league field in Shreveport before they dropped to D3. They could find another school in driving distance to Shreveport and play a neutral site game there for the LSU fans in North LA.

DBU, ULM, an Arky school, SFA, one of those.

I actually like that idea. Not too costly, mid week game.

TCU, Texas Tech, Texas, SMU, Arkansas-Little Rock

Florida State in Pensacola could be a GREAT early season midweek game

FWIW, I've only advocated for traveling more mid-week. And maybe one weekend every other year.

SMU doesn't have a baseball program. Neither does Tulsa, or North Texas (though you didn't name them they would fit geographically).

Possible Mid-Week Matchups moving forward?

Considering LSU won't go further than possibly 4 hours from Campus mid-week, here are some schools we could play.

Teams we should never play again - UNO, Alcorn State, Southern-Baton Rouge

Beaumont - Lamar

Lafayette - ULL (I hate the Cajuns, I really do, but I will give them credit for learning to recruit hitters and be able to win games, this should be a yearly thing like when Tulane was relevant)

Pensacola - Florida State or Georgia Tech

Mobile - South Alabama, Alabama (A non-conference thing like Auburn and Alabama)

Hattiesburg - Southern Miss

Possible Weekend Series Worth Giving up the Money for?

Coral Gables - Miami
Tallahasse - Florida State
Charlottesville - Virginia
Austin - Texas

I would take a weekend trip to any of these four. Imagine the media attention, ESPN would televise, I guarantee it.

Yeah it's a pretty bad argument.... "We make too much money therefore we can't afford it!"

Think about what you're saying.

LSU baseball does not operate in the red. We turn a profit, just as you pointed out. There Is NO REASON we should not beef up the OOC schedule, whether at home or by a couple more road games.

If we were operating at a loss, you're argument would make sense as we'd have to cut something else in the budget to make it happen ... LSU doesn't have to cut shite to make it happen.

You are making excuses for them, and a very illogical excuse.

No matter how you spin it, the fact remains that LSU's OOC schedule hurt us this year. It's alleva and PM's job to fix it. They will.

Metaphor time...

(EDIT: I need to stop drinking, I literally think this is a good point)

I see your point: $$$ talks

That said, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that lsu's OOC sucks. It's time to schedule at least one Top25 OOC series, whether it be at home or on the road. If you can't stomach losing the measly 150k dip into PROFiTS for a couple home games lost, then at the very least bring in someone OOC with a pulse to the box once or twice per year.

We are one of the few programs in baseball that should get the benefit of the doubt ala a Duke, UNC or Kentucky in basketball. Am I right?
well they continue to give the benefit to the acc teams in baseball too, yet they never win.

True, but we haven't been the most appealing to quality teams wanting to play here OOC.

Cal St Fullerton came here a couple years ago and we broke national attendance records.

If we can convince FSU, UVA, or Oregon State to come down here for a weekend, amen brother!

Because it's baseball and not that many people really care unless it's Omaha.

Let's say we finish with a RPI of 10. We barely miss hosting a super regional. What is the profit lost due to us not hosting versus us playing a meaningless 3 game series vs an ivy league doormat. No super usually means no Omaha. No Omaha for a few straight years and Paul will be shown the door. We only need one 3 game series on the road against a quality opponent to help with the RPI.

Then tell your AD to not insist on playing 36-37 home games every year.
