He should've been fired a year ago. They wanted to wait a year so another cycle of good coaches could be unavailable.

It is a no brainer. Alleva is waiting til after the season so he doesn't piss anyone off. Both sides will part ways.

I specifically want JJ to stay until Alleva leaves. I don't want Alleva making any moves, and I want him gone before anyone else. I'll wait.

There is no value to firing a coach during the season.

Bob took the girls to the Final Four and didn't do that other thing.

John Brady was fired mid-season and Butch Pierre took over. Though as I recall, Skip was the guy who pulled the trigger, and Brady had worn out his welcome by that point. So it's not like there's no precedent.
How has LSU basketball fared since this firing?

Well he does suck whale dick at the athletic side of his job. Reassign him to fundraising director or something and bring in someone with a ballsack.

Because Johnny Jones is a longtime, loyal Tiger and is being shown respect. What is wrong with that and what is to be gained by firing him before the season ends?

Exactly once you didn't fire him by the halfway point of SEC play there is zero point in firing him til they season is over. Odds are the guy you are going to get to replace him is going to be coaching in the tourney so you have to wait til then to make a move anyway. This isn't like football where coaches will leave their current school before the bowl game.

Sauces say that Alleva's biggest nightmare scenario has developed.
F. King is telling him one thing; Collis and Dale another.
Two masters....

I'm pretty sure that JJ being fired is a formality, but I've read that after April 1st his buyout drops significantly; so, that's why nothing has been done.

You've read incorrectly. His buyout is $33.33k per month until June 30, 2019. It doesn't matter what month he is fired. The longer you keep him as head coach, the longer you pay him his full salary of $125k per month.

For me, see what happened at the end of last year, see how that carried over to this year and realize there is not hope Johnny can ever turn that around.
