Atleast he hasn't really come back to try to defend himself. He knows he messed up, and he's moved on. I hate when guys start threads like this, and defend their remarks until they have no dignity left

Apparently you don't watch LSU basketball and don't pay much attention when you do watch... for it was mentioned SEVERAL times last night that LSU is the #2 team in the conference at shooting FTs.

If Hickey could learn to shoot FTs we would be an incredibly good FT shooting team. It helps a lot Hamilton is a good FT shooter because C's rarely are.

When we have our starting 5 out there they all shoot well at the charity stripe minus Hickey

C - Hamilton = 78.8%
PF - O'Bryant = 65.4% or Warren = 70.4%
G/F - Turner = 76.6%
SG - Stringer = 82.8%
PG - Hickey = 55.8%

Then off the bench we have...
Ludwig = 87.5%
Issac = 78.9%

Then you have guys like Bass and White who you do not want out there to close out a game if we're being fouled.

I thought we were gonna give the game away late in the second half with missed free throws.

Chris Bass + Malcolm White = 2-10 FT shooting

Yea it was strange when he put Bass in at the end of the game with a couple minutes left

I knew Stringer was helped off the court but I putting Bass in an interesting decision...and Georgia definitely noticed because they immediately fouled him two straight possessions and he went 1-4

I'm just glad Trent recognized his mistake and admitted to it after the game

the coaches are afraid of their players.

the coaches cant shoot free throws.

one of those.

There are three ways to shoot free throws. anyone on a team of mine that can not shoot 15 out of 20 the usual way THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE

HAS to learn ONE of the other two ways.
The other two ways are
INDIANA 87% is the best you can expect with this technique, but any swinging dick can learn to shoot this way and get to 75%

underhanded. highest potential. for tall guys who cant figure out their skeleton well enough to shoot the conventional way worth a shite. Shaquille.

END of PROBLEM.
LINK

first link is RIck Barry teaching underhand method.

I will hunt for Indiana youtube.

101st in the country and 2nd in the league is hardly bad.

Is this stat accurate? The SEC is that bad in basketball that our 2nd best free throw shooting team is still in the triple digits nationally?

quote:

18-30 for the game or 60% (which was skewed upwards with ones made at the end of the game)

So those free throws we hit at the end of the game "skewed" the statistics? Why should those free throws not count towards statistics? Were those not important free throws that put the game out of reach?

Because Hamilton made the last four LSU free throws. The last two he made came with 17 seconds left and a 6 point lead. If UGA hits one more shot when they were down only 4 points (after fouling Bass twice in a row), then they don't have to foul Hamilton and give LSU's most clutch free throw shooter two shots.

quote:

That Johnson acknowledged that Bass and White, who missed a vast majority of those free throws, were not good free throw shooters? He made a calculated decision to have two of our worst free throw shooters on the floor in exchange for something else they brought to the game.

This strategy almost backfired. Can't we get Storm, Hamilton, O'bryant, Turner, and another guard in the game to help with rebounds and free throws? Both of those are extremely crucial when you have a lead with less than 90 seconds left. Bass won't get any rebounds, and he sure ain't making any free throws.

What Trent finally did at the end of the game was have Chris take the damn ball out and have Ralston on the floor...I would love for Hickey to be taking the ball out in those spots but he is very short esp. if they are fronting the inbounder so Turner in the obvious choice but i have confidence in Hickey late in games he seems to step it up at the line. If we hit our normal percentage last night we beat them by 15, it was the exception and not the rule.

Isn't that when it counts the most? To lock down the "W"? We did fine and we won the game, keep rolling Tigers!!

so your point is

its ok to be terrible at a key skill because the other teamS in the local area ARE even more terrible at

that same key skill.

LINK

link is NCAA free throw average, by team.

LSU is tied with 4 others for 97th place thru 101st.

LSU is the 100th best free throw shooting team.

There are 3 dozen WHOLE TEAMS that shoot better than any LSU regular.

I really did . Well done.

Good point. FT's at the end of a close game mean nothing. Sort of like a first down in the first qtr.

Ithink its funny that you (lsurulz) just told someone that they look like a fool for what they posted yet all u did was basically put together 4 previous comments in ur post and acted as if u were telling OP something original. "2nd in sec, ur a bandwagoner, etc."

They're not that bad. Malcom missed 3 or 4. Pretty sure bass was 1/4, so there's at least 6 misses. Those dudes never have been able to hit them. O'Bryant isn't great there either. I'll take my chances w/ everyone else though. If those guys aren't known to suck there we probably don't get fouled and we're closer to 18-24> NOT so bad...
