After the initial "lead off" batter of the game......does it really matter?

Um...yeah? The idea is that your 3-4-5 hitters are your best hitters, so your lead off and two hole guys are guys that can get on base.

Your 9 hole hitter is a second lead off guy. Freeman is perfect for that spot. Good contact hitter with speed from the left side. He would be a good lead off hitter too. CPM has always liked a high average in the 9 hole. Schimpf in 09 was in that spot for a lot of the year and was batting well over 300 with a few home runs.

Edit: Freeman is a righty got him and Duplantis confused for a second but the same point still stands.

Is Freeman a switch hitter? Thought he was a righty.

No, you want the lead off to get on base nomatter what. The point is, after the first "lead off" it doesn't matter. 9th, 1st, 2nd.............1st,2nd,3rd..... It's a good thing when the 9th hole is hitting.

If by a few home runs you mean 22 hrs to lead the team then yes. In 2008 he hit 12 hrs which would probably put him as our HR leader at the end of this year too. I agree with you I'm fine with him at 9 or lead off. I would rather see Freeman lead off right now over Krob though bc he is hitting the ball better, stealing bases, and just seems like a more natural table setter.

Depending on how the game plays out the lead off hitter may not get the most at bats? Right? Unless your planning on 5,6,7,8 on never getting a hit?

Your saying the hitting is done 1-4. Our lineup has never been structured like that
