It's the contra flow. If you don't leave by the 3rd quarter you are stuck in traffic for 1-2 hours I know some people that live in BR and they always leaving at half to beat the traffic, so blame it on the contraflow

Really? This is like the first time I've heard that. What happened to sitting at the tailgate socializing until the traffic died down? An hour goes by a lot faster when you're doing that instead of sitting in your car.

If you have to leave at halftime, why even show up? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Listen to the postgame in your car, is it really that hard to sit still for a while?

I never leave early but from what I hear this is why the crowd is on existent in the second half also student section all leaves at half to go to the bars

We exit on Dalrymple and the traffic was pretty bad compared to most games. BRPD really needs to stop letting people exit i10 eastbound and Westbound at Dalrymple. Then they need to close off the right lane on i10 west over the lake so that the Dalrymple on ramp can freely flow onto the interstate.

There's some really simple things they could do that I've seen elsewhere but for some reason choose not to.

Well yeah, that's posted on here a million times and there's like 3 topics about it on the 1st page of this board. We know. I thought you were posting your own experience.

bullshite. Left with 0 on the clock. Walked 10 minutes to the car. Made a left out the parking lot and was home in 2 hours. Normal time to get there is 1 hour 45 minutes. So 15 minutes more.

It was bumper to bumper but we never stopped for more than a minute

Yeah , the traffic is a bitch, but the bottom line is that many of the so called LSU fans do not care about the game.

Since attending half a game is largely a pointless exercise, the only rational thing to do, assuming the honesty of your claim that traffic is your reason for leaving early, is to not come to the game at all. That way you can (i) avoid the pure anguish of dealing with traffic and (ii) actually watch the entire game (if you really care).

Never made sense to me either. Sound like most of the fan base are fat cats and socialites who make an appearance just to see and be seen.

I never said I'm leaving early because of contra flow but students and others tell me it's because of it, do I agree with their decision no but I was just telling what they say

Maybe not "most of the fanbase", but certainly a majority of the season ticket holders on the West side between the 20 yard lines.

1. The game is longer - 3.5 hours versus 2.5 hours pre-1990s;
2. more fans tailgate and tailgate longer--lengthening the day;
3. students can't get liquor in the stadium so they either binge before the game and fade or they leave to get liquor. If they could get flasks in like they historically could, they'd stay.

I swear if these people had realistic Tiger Stadium backdrops to take a selfie in front of, they wouldn't make it into the stadium at all.

This is a new era. Show support for this team. Stay all damn game! Leave the Whiners at home and come yell your arse off. Hang at the tailgate after to eat and socialize and listen to post game. You will be surprised how fast traffic seems to die down.
