LSU does seem to have more difficulty putting OM and Arkansas away, but I don't think there's any larger message to take away from this that will help you or anyone understand. Sure, you can scrutinize the film or statistics and find some trends for these games... maybe we avg a higher turnover ratio against these teams or don't rush as well... whatever. But that doesn't mean that's why the games always seem tighter and we end up dropping a couple games we shouldn't.

I honestly think it's just one of those random things where they sort of have our number. Like playing playground ball, maybe you can beat almost everyone easily, but there might be that one guy who's not that good, but you have to work harder to finish him every time you play. It just happens sometimes.

LSU is 7-5 (which could very easily be 6-6...) against Ole Miss and Arkansas since 2008. For a program that prides itself on being "dominant", this is a rather pathetic statistic.

And LSU hasn't lost to Arkansas since 2010.

Uh, Ar-Kansas had a few good teams in recent history, same with Ole Miss.

It's not like we're talking about Vandy at MSU.

Nuts4LSU is all over this. Every year as fans, we count these two routinely as easy wins. Sure, LSU will never beat beat everyone every time, but these two opponents usually play us closer than they should and beat the Tigers more than they should.

I think an advantage we have over State is that we typically play them early, or they could be more of a threat as well.

We typically play Ole Miss and Arkansas late in the season, while Bama plays them early. Bama also beats State on the regular but notice the closer scores in that game. Bama plays State late.

Yeah, Arkansas was solid under Petrino.

The same reason USC loses to Oregon State or Texas loses to Kansas State. It's a conference rival that has seen you on film multiple times over a season and there is much overlap in recruiting.

Because even a shitty SEC team is capable of beating you if you don't bring your A game, and it's hard to bring your A game week in and week out.

Lot of talent out there these days. Everyone recruits the best they can. They are always more up for us than we are for them. Blame the coaching staff for that. One of their jobs is motivating. Ask Dale Brown how some of his LSU teams won games they had no business winning if you went by talent.

And I know I will get flak for this but lots of times in games like these if we go out to an early lead, Les will stop trying to win and start playing not to lose. He stops being aggressive on offense and the defense starts playing contain instead of going after the quarterback. Instead of being the gambler everyone says he is, he is really very conservative in his play calling.

This, to me, seems like it should never happen. Besides 2011, why LSU doesn't play well against either team is very hard for me to understand. Will someone who understands explain why these two teams score more points than LSU after 4 quarters?

Since Miles has been here. In SEC play:

SEC West

9-0 vs MSU
7-2 vs Auburn
6-3 vs Ole Miss
6-3 vs Arkansas
5-4 vs Alabama
2-0 vs TAMU

SEC East

5-4 Florida
4-1 Tennessee
3-0 USCe
3-0 Vanderbilt
2-1 Kentucky
2-3 UGA
0-0 Mizzu

So Miles has a winning record against 11 of the other 13 schools in SEC play.

The sec west is tough. Arkansas has had some good teams and sends players to the NFL annually. Ole miss is up and down. Nut had a couple of good years, but freeze has recruited with the best of them so far. These games shouldn't be easy.

? METT threw 3 ints last year against ole piss, which is why we lost.

Cam cameron, aka the play caller, should have been running the ball instead of going for the HR, if you want to second guess.

Traditionally ole miss and LSU are long time rivals, and for it be a rivalry both sides have to contribute in the win column at some point. LSU and ole miss recruit many of the same players, many times the players who get shunned by either school will end up at the other with a chip on their shoulder.

They play in the SEC, the SEC West, are you one that talks about SEC superiority and thinks it only applies to Alabama? Playing in our conference is tough, there are no gimmes year in and year out.

Ole Miss in particular has been recruiting well and is a serious team.

It isn't flak, it is just calling out stupid. This is like the Les doesn't play Freshmen crap.

Last season, were down by 3 in 1st, 10 in 2nd, and 10 and 3rd. WTF.

Last loss to Arkansas, we were behind at the end of every quarter.

shite, the loss to Clemson people bitched because he was too aggressive with the lead.

In 11 we beat the Rebels by 49, when we can pour it on, we do.

"Wow, it would be so awesome to beat (Ole Miss or Arkansas, take your pick) like we should this year!"

I think this routinely. Nothing is more aggravating than narrowly beating Arkansas or Ole Miss and having them act like it was a win. I guess it just goes to speak about nature of the programs. How many LSU fans do you hear saying "But y'all only won by 3 on a last second field goal!!!" to Ole Miss fans? I guess I just don't understand that mentality.
