It's pretty absurd.

Since 2000, its more likely that Ole Miss will fire its coach than lose to LSU by 2 TDs.

And LSU's couple of dominant wins have come on the road.

The largest LSU margin of victory in Baton Rouge vs. Ole Miss since 2000 is 7, which has only been done once and happened in a game where LSU trailed with a minute left...the other LSU wins are 6, 3, 3 and 1...and losses by 11 and 18.

It makes no sense.

This, to me, seems like it should never happen. Besides 2011, why LSU doesn't play well against either team is very hard for me to understand. Will someone who understands explain why these two teams score more points than LSU after 4 quarters?

Why do the Saints lose to the Browns or Rams every single year?

LSU is 7-5 (which could very easily be 6-6...) against Ole Miss and Arkansas since 2008. For a program that prides itself on being "dominant", this is a rather pathetic statistic.

We could also easily be 10-2 against them

because by comparing the programs levels of success we have achieved more than both of those 2 recently, thus its ALWAYS a bigger game for them than it is us....you equate that with having a down year in LSU's terms and that equals getting nipped every now and then

if you really can't understand how we lose to them, especially when we're having a downish year and they're having a good year, then my friend, you just don't understand college football

i hate that this is true but it is. actually i hate it more that our players/coaches don't seem to take it more seriously.

hopefully the plan is to move arkansas to an earlier in the year game now that tamu seems to be the angle for a "rivalry" now.

What are their respective records against Alabama, the team that we, as fans, tend to measure LSU against?

easy answer - emotional letdown.

We've got a few big emotional games during the season that we get up for. Unfortunately, you just can't stay at maximum emotional intensity for all 12 games. There are ebbs and flows throughout the year. We feel it too as fans.

Ole Miss and Arky just aren't our big games, and so we're emotionally flat when we play them. And we ARE a big game for them, so they're jacked up.

Look at how much easier of a time Ala and Aub have disposing of Ole Miss

Since 2000, LSU has just 3 double-digit wins over the Rebels and the other were by 6,3,3, and 1 as mentioned.

LSU and MSU ARE their Super Bowl.

For Arkansas, it is always the day after thanksgiving to the day after that. I think that has something to do with it. Ole Miss is a rival historically, so think that is why we struggle with them.

This may be the best answer. We have traditionally played them after the Bama game.

Correct. Since 2000, 10-4 against OM and 9-5 against Arky. What makes it tough is that most of those 9 losses the Tigers were favored.

Under the previous coach:
LSU lost to 6-6 Arkansas team in 2000.
In the 2001 SEC Championship season, lost by 11 at home to an Ole Miss team that didn't make a bowl.
Beat a 7-6 Ole miss team by 1 at home and blew an SECW championship against Ark in 2002.
Beat a 4-7 Ole Miss team at home by 3 in 2004.

drives me batty. we roll with miles and fans love him for letting our players ride waves of emotion. the players love it too - and sometimes the combined forces of the fans, the stakes, the nervousness, the state pride can elevate us to big performances in big games, but the tradeoff is more duds. it has taken me ten years to come to grips with this fact about les miles' coached teams.

the stark opposite is saban, the surgeon, the one who has himself said that he likes to take all emotion out of the game, good or bad emotion. his teams at bama lay popcorn farts but bama under saban seems to do it against some directional school on PPV. i hate saban with every ounce of fiber in my body. he is the sorriest man to ever sh!t behind two shoes. he is an all-time worst father-figure and has no business being around young men at their impressionable age. however i do admire how his bama teams almost never seem to get into dogfights with those SEC teams whom they are favored by say six to ten points.

the debate is good one and maybe the "Super Bowl" theory is spot on, as mentioned, saban too strugged with arkansas and ole miss

When did Saban say he wants to take emotion out of the game? He's the most emotional coach outside of muschamp

What's strange is why they focus so much on LSU, but just seem to ignore Alabama and lay down for them without even trying to put up a fight.
so true.

I think Ole Miss hasn't beaten Bama since like 1988.

ETA: Nevermind on that last statement.

i saw an interview with saban it was connected to "When did Saban say he wants to take emotion out of the game? He's the most emotional coach outside of muschamp"

saban said it while being interviewed for a look-back show on the bluegrass miracle. he said exactly that he wants for his players to do their jobs and to take all emotion out of a game, both good and bad.

saban wants to reduce the game to a series of repeated movements, done with precision. miles remembers that it's still just a game - the same one those kids played a decade ago in shorts and t-shirts.

Good grief, we play good teams well because we are good . We play average teams well too, the record speaks for itself. We dont play well because of any other reasons than good players and good coaches.

Saban is a footbzll coach, a good one that has great talent. More talent than snyone. He lost two to end last year. I swear some of yall speak about him like he has some special powers. "The Surgeon"
