it really makes it tough to listen to.

I don't have any problem knowing what's going on in the game.

The LSU broadcast crew does a fine job covering LSU sports and bringing them to LSU fans.

I like the guy, and when I here him say anything thenI know if found LSU on the radio, we could do a lotttttttt worse, believe it. Ever try listening to Aggies clown doing a game?? Or Arkie's or 'Bamers ? They all suck!!

Agreed. Anyone hear Cristil calling Miss St. games? That guy had resignation and defeat in his voice from the start of the game.

I have read a few posts about Hawthorn over the past few years. I watch most games on tv, so don't listen to him as much as some, but sometimes he's okay, other times very good, other times not very good.

However, I do have 3 questions: (1) How old is Hawthorne; (2) How many years has he been doing play-by-play of LSU sports; and (3) Has he ever said how many years he hopes to keep broadcasting for LSU & or how many more years he would like to do the games?

I'll hang up & listen--LOL!

He is from near Alexandria LA which is affectionally called Elick by natives....guess he just made the connection to Alex Box.

Because that's the proper way to pronounce it according to the family. Similar to Jordan Hare.

For fricks sake! Can you people read? He pronounces it correctly. That is how it was pronounced by the person and family that it was named after.

i doubt they pronounced it ellic though, probably more like alec. I think he gets the last part of his first name correctly, just not the beginning.

and he definitely pronounces bregman's name wrong. It like hawthorne thinks every alex should be pronounced with a c and not an x since alex box is that way.

he respects the Box family so much that he mispronounces the Edward and Bregman families' kids names.

What is an accent if not the way one pronounces words?

I heard an interview with a family member a few years ago. He pronounces it correctly.

No arguments here.

so hawthrorne tries to say "Alex" but the family infulence/area of the country he was raised in makes "Ellic" come out? Amazing. What does he say when someone "sacks" the QB?

I wonder if he would pronounce Al Capone as

"El" Capone.

..I'm sorry , but people , AleX ( .. thats e-X , "X" , people ) should ALWAYS be pronounced "Alecks" ... there is NO "C" or "K" sound for an "X" ... I don't give a damn what some old family custom says about how you pronounce someones name... Might as well say "old custom" says Tigers is pronounced "Teegirs" ...blah blah ... give me a friggin' break ... this has always been a pet peeve of mine Alec Box indeed ! What bull ! Oh , I know , there's a story behind it .. well , screw the story , AleX is AleX ... end of story !
