If only he had caught some or all of those balls that hit him right in the hands.

This right here is why a lot of the fan base calls him a bust. When his number is called, he does not deliver. I do agree that he is under utilized, and the coaching staff just never used him properly. Maybe if he was more reliable that the coaches would use him more. Who knows, I do enjoy watching him when he busts a long one though.

A great offensive mind would have found ways to use shep.

As much as i hate Oregon and Kelly, RS would have excelled in that type of spread offense.

Agree with what everyone said. Not the sharpest WR, but certainly underused in his tenure at LSU.

He isn't a bust. But it appears that way since he isn't used enough by a talent wasting offense.

He is very effective when he has the ball. His catching the ball is his deficiencies

Like UNC or Bama in 2010? Without his big plays in those games we don't win. My point was he is a running back not a wide receiver. He is not going to make those catches down field but he has been our most productive player when called on to run the past four years. To average 7.2 yards a carry in 95 attempts when the whole defense knows you will get the ball every-time you line up at running back is an unbelievable feat. Kenjon Barner can't even average that much in Oregon's offense. Imagine what he would do if he was put in Shepard's shoes. We need to mix it up more with him the backfield and put him there more. I mean damn we got a back averaging 3.9 yards a carry this year when the defense doesn't know pass or run and nobody complains about his production! Shepard might go down with a fart but it's better than someone who is too slow and runs into three people at LOS every-time

Posted by Stingray Shepard should have recognized his limitations at QB, been recruited as a halfback/slot wr hybrid and redshirted his freshman year to learn the position. This or play QB in a less competitive conference.

Shep was 18 when he made a poor choice to come to a school like this to play QB.
Miles should have known better than to mislead him into thinking he could play QB here. Miles recruited him under false pretenses and screwed him.

He admitted in an interview that during his first year at LSU he didn't train as hard as he should have. Said he slacked off because he thought the speed of the game would come naturally.
