Reactionary fans are the worst. Delusion sets in after Hilliard breaks a tackle and runs for 18 yards. The rant explodes claiming he is better than Hill and he needs all the carries. Repeat said action with Magee

Honestly, college football as a whole sucks compared to before the BCS era. Way too corporate these days. I clearly see how the NFL dominates NCAA football in tv ratings the last 6-7 years.

Not to mention the current Alabama "dynasty". People are tired of it, especially outside of SEC country. Look what Jimmy Johnson domination has done to NASCAR ratings. It just gets old.

Our fans are no worse than any other fans of any other sport. Young or old, they either cheer unconditionally or rail at every mistake. I've been an LSU fan since the days of Bert Jones, and it's always been the same, and always will be. Deal with it.

The fact that we have a chance to beat the best and be ranked around 6-7 nationally should have people looking up.

While beating Bama and ruining their season would be awesome, I think most people would prefer for the game to mean something in terms of our chances of winning the SEC. Just because LSU used to struggle to make a bowl game doesn't mean we should still be thrilled with that. Times have changed. Louisiana is one of the most talent rich states in the nation and LSU has a huge athletic budget and no big in-state rivals. It's not too much to ask to beat an unranked, injury depleted Ole Miss team and be in the running for an SEC title at least until we play the best teams in the SEC West.

And for whoever said young people buy into preseason media hype, expectations weren't very high entering the season. We had just come off a loss to Clemson in the freaking Chick-Fil-A Bowl and were replacing most of our defense. But then we saw how improved our offense was and it was expected that we should at least compete for the SEC. That didn't happen, and people are disappointed.

Imagine if you had $50 to spend on raw meat to make a fantastic meal for yourself and your SO. You have your eye set on some fantastic filets, but you let your wife pick and do the cooking. Instead of filets, your $50 bought you and cooked a really really good burger. However, a burger is not a filet and you expect to get filet quality when you pay a filet price.

When you pay for a premium cut of steak and are given a ground beef patty, your hunger might be sated, but you probably won't be satisfied by it.

Started a thread a week ago..."what defines a true Tiger fan"? Curious as to your thoughts on this. I've known a few following LSU for 53 years. The ones I knew & know Love LSU for the tradition & the pageantry that makes the experience unique. Win or lose they Love LSU. It's a different "what have you done for me lately" mentality now with the new generation of "observers" as opposed to "fans".

We still have a chance to win the freaking SEC last I checked. Yeah things haven't met our greatest expectations but championships are special for a reason, because they're rare.

If your kid does poorly in school when you know he has the ability to make straight A's, you'd probably get upset with him. Does that mean you don't love him anymore?

This is really just such a stupid thought process. If people were only observers and didn't care about LSU, would they be upset when LSU loses? When I watch a game involving two other schools as a mere observer, I don't really care about the outcome (unless it directly affects LSU). That makes me an observer. When I watch LSU and we lose or play a bad game, I'm unhappy about it. That makes me a fan, not an observer.

How? We would need to win out and we would also need Alabama to lose another game. Their most likely loss would be against Auburn, whom we would also need to lose another game. If we hadn't lost to crappy Ole Miss, we would still control our own destiny.

LSU football isn't your kid. It's older than you.

Dude the young fuks on here ruin it for everyone. It's the same young fuks that are voting democrat because they feel entitled for someone to give them something they have not earned . I would guess that about the same time they figure out their generation ruined a great country they will realize that this shite called sports is for entertainment purposes only and they have no life.

I'm in my mid 30's and remember being jacked up for the Indy Bowl too.

However, expectations have risen. Our coaching staff gets paid handsomely to make LSU elite. We are no longer elite.

Spoiled? Yes. Ridiculous expectations? Yes. Older fans do know what it was like when Hallman and Dinardo coached here. As a fan of LSU in those days, I know I never want to go through that shite again. Hence, the ridiculous expectations.
