It is preferable to keep the money in state. I would much prefer any of the other state schools to be able to take that $500K or however much it was rather than some other school to take it back to South Carolina.

So pay ULM $750k or pay Furman $450k?

while i agree, alabama played georgia st this season. they're technically a FBS school but they're still not eligible for post season play until next season. i hate playing FCS schools, but everyone does it. if you want to blame something, blame the 12 game schedule.

Exactly. The whole keep the money in state is a load of crap.

Why does any La school play anyone outside the state? I mean if we want to bitch at LSU about some bullshite like this then apply it across the board .

LSU doesn't owe anything to any La based school. Nor do they owe LSU. Why should LSU pay 300k more to play ULM than another out of state school? To help out the Warhawks?

Keep the money in state really holds up well when thinking thru your intl trade and economics lessons.

If keeping the money in state makes sense, then why not in a city, in a neighbiorhood or your own home. For that matter keep all your cash to yourself. Get the point? Complete bullshite. Based on some illogical well sounding crap to benefit one group

Agree. And ULM is going to get their money from playing Arkansas or Bama and take money from those states. And then ULM turns around and spends that money with out of state vendors.

Keeping the money in state....it doesn't mean what it meant 40 years ago.

Exactly. People are making this claim based on a static flow of cash and not looking at the other end of the conduit.

Can you imagine our shitty lifestyles if these geniuses ran our trade policies? Hello to a world with 10,000 dollar flat screens. Hell, we have to keep all our money in state. Hello to a world of bloated inefficiencies

To any of these ignorant masses. Pick up any book by Thomas Sowell. Please educate yourself on basic economics.

LSU pays $300k more to ULM because they are FBS. FCS schools get paid lower guarantees.

I don't have an opinion on the subject but I thought it would bring up an interesting debate.

One would think that these fan bases (SLU, Mcneese, Northwestern and Nicholls St.) are closet LSU fans anyway. Wouldn't it be smart to throw your season ticket holders that graduated from other schools a bone every once in awhile?

Again I could care less but I thought it would be a good debate.

Why make schools like Nicholls pay Thousands to fly to Oregon when they could bus 1 hour to lsu for the same pay check?
We should help our own first!
F... Furman. Lets play Nicholls,Northwestern State,McNeese or Southeastern.

What is the difference if one of our local rent a win schools gets paid by us or an out of state school? If OU gives McNeese 400K or we give them 400K they still get 400K. Money is fungible.

Perhaps the players would like to take a nice trip instead of a bus ride to BR? Most of those kids have never been to Oregon.

You didn't answer question why LSU played Furman. Good for fans? Good for ranking? Good for ticket sales? Good for TV ratings? Surely with LSU 's high 8 digit athletic revenues Furman wasn't scheduled to save $100,000.

We have played ULL, Tech, ULM, McNeese and Northwester all in the last few years. We didn't play one public state school in all of the 90's. ULM is back on the schedule for next year.

Again, everyone is not considering all the factors in making a schedule. LSU has committed to playing in-state schools when possible and they didn't 10+ years ago. I don't see the argument. Their 4 OOC games each yr can't be ULM, ULL, Mc Neese and Nicholls.

But why should 1 of our OOC games have been Furman? Was that the best we could do for our team and fans?

But then Marlin got all angry for no reason.

A lot of times they take who they can get. I don't know the exact reason they played Furman but I remember several years ago they couldn't get one school out of all division I to come to LSU for a specific date. They had to send letters out to all DI schools and finally got it filled. Some schools are going to require a home and home. Not all cupcakes are going to want to play a team like LSU. They'd rather get similar money and play mid tier BCS program.

next year on Sept 6th Nicholls goes to Arkansas the same Day We play their Southland conference rival Sam Houston State.
I bet their players and fanbase would rather play us then those A..holes.
And I bet Nicholls would bring more fans!
