Absolutely. Why let that money leave the state? It makes no sense to me how some in state school couldnt have been scheduled.

Personally, I loved the game against McNeese. I'm from Lake Charles and got to hang with a good bit of people who normally wouldn't go to an LSU game.

We have a game against UL next year though.

How do any of us know we didn't try to schedule Louisiana teams and there were conflicts?

Why does this matter at all? The thing was about keeping money in-state. Why does it matter if we play Central Arkansas instead of Furman?

because they were on the schedule and LSU wasn't on strike like Grambling.

I heard Mcneese brought 8,000. True?

I agree on getting in state BUT if you can't get one close, it is just better..opponent travel and all.

A school like LSU should never play a FCS school. It's essentially buying a win--Appy State not withstanding.

I believe that LSU needs to schedule schools that provide a challenge because LSU should not shy away from formidable competition and because of what they charge for tickets.

Plus why should someone buy tickets when watching on tv is cheaper especially against an opponent where you are buying a victory?

One thing I like about the new playoff system is that playing FCS schools may hurt you in getting a playoff spot.

Why does Alabama play Chattanooga?
Why does Florida play Georgia Southern?
Why did Arkansas play Samford?
Why does Auburn play Western Carolina?
Why does Georgia play Appalachian State?
Why did LSU play Furman?

All of these schools are in the Southern Conference
Another school Citadel plays Clemson

I have no idea why we scheduled a FCS school from South Carolina. I'm assuming the reason is because we could find no one else available for that date. It should be avoided at all costs.

Hm. Do you think maybe there's a conference deal responsible for this?

I'm not sure everyone realizes how difficult it is to come up with a schedule. Everyone plays a cupcake or two each year. A lot of times these games are used as warmup games early in the year or after a big game to prevent a letdown later in the year.

This year, LSU has late open dates because Bama and A&M both had open dates before playing us. So LSU didn't want those teams to have 2 weeks to prepare without them having the same. After 9 straight weeks the team is getting fatigued and it's a great spot to schedule a cupcake or a rent a win.

Unfortunately, LSU can't always get an in state opponent but they have had more in state opponents in the last 10 yrs than they did in the previous 10.
