Like the Saints. Yea we've had a few here and there but New Orleans runs em 5-6 times a game and very effectively. With Fournette and Guice I think we need more screens

Because we just got a QB that can complete a 7 yard pass.

Etlings got a lot of good football in him. I think we could have some big moments this year. Watched that Flynn Auburn replay today!

We've definitely seen a few with Etling as the QB. That's been one of my favorite things about him.

To be fair the saint's screen game used to be one of the bests in the NFL bar none. PT was particularly good at them.

Also we've run a few this season already. They haven't quite worked yet.

You literally waited to the one year in recent memory that LSU is running successful screen plays to ask why they do not run effective screens.

The same reason we stopped throwing over the middle. No confidence in the QB. That bubble screen was always effective it seems but that went away a few yrs ago, too. Etling can make that pass, so hopefully we will see more of it & slow down the rush by the DL.

Watch the few screen passes we have run. Pocic completely whiffed on 3 blocks, Boutte and Clapp whiffed on 1 each. Inexcusable on a perfectly called play.

The Saints suck just as much as LSU this year.

Edit: LSU would probably beat the Saints this year.

Screens are most effective when the defense is worried about the pass. When was the last time anyone worried about the pass

Also, it's effective against a blitz. People don't blitz us much because they've been getting pressure with four.

On every pass play there should be a safety valve for Etling, ie...RB in the flat somewhere or the TE crossing the middle or in flat...due to our porous OL

Our OL is more geared to road grading . Not the smaller more nimble linemen that u see on spread type teams. But I suspect we will continue to try.

I agree. Luckily that's the way they've been playing it. And Etling has hit a lot of those safety valves.

I remember back when Jimbo was our OC and the bubble screen was our toss dive.

Good times.
