The games weren't televised and there was no YouTube or other social media. What happened in Tiger Stadium stayed in Tiger Stadium. That was a time when you couldn't wait to read about the game in the Sunday paper. It's a different world today.

There is probably a difference in random people, or small random groups of people, yelling obscenities and 15,000 people chanting obscenities in unison every time the band plays a particular song.

I agree that what was done in the past should not dictate standards. That is why the "tradition matters" campaign is a tough sell. I read the Reveille thing today.
It's not about tradition, which most people agree can be oppressive. You don't have to do the old stuff to demonstrate that you can have fun and handle success with grace and dignity.

It's a different world. In 1977 every game wasn't in national TV and they didn't have miles in student section. There's no more "good ole boy" free passes in society. Everyone is held accountable and judged pretty harshly.
