As were TCU against an unranked team. Michigan state are more worthy at this stage IMO

Baylor will be in the top four on Tuesday. They will not take the Baylor QB situation until the next game by Baylor, at least according to ESPN's reporter who was told that by the committee's director. It isn't a big deal at this point because they will rerank based on what everyone does over the next and coming weeks.

3 of the 4 playoff teams were outside the top 4 in the first poll. Ohio State was 16th. It doesn't matter where you're ranked in November.
But yet, some fans will be all upset with their ranking Tuesday night.

I don't care where we start. I care where we finish. #1 seed AT THE END of the season usually gets the easiest path to the big game.
Buckeyes were #16 in the committee's initial rankings last year. That worked out pretty good for them, I would say.

you make a great point. It really doesn't matter for some teams. LSU, Bama, Ohio State, Michigan State, Clemson all pretty much control their path to the playoff so the only issue for those teams is winning your games and you'll be in, lose and you're out.

I agree all hype in week 1 by espn is ridiculous . They should temper their own enthusiasm . And not puss off 5-8 in first show .but they won't and they will piss off teams
