Yeah, I get hopeful looking at it too, because we've all known for a while, if we could just have a top 50 offense, we can go places. But, you're out here pushing Canada's top 10 scoring offense, but that's not a normal every year thing for him. Like I said, his offenses have averaged 52.6 ranking nationally. If we can get to that 52, though, I have a feeling we can do some damage. How much, I don't know. There are a lot of other factors that go into winning a game.

Could be because of the many different versions of his offense he has used.

How is this an excuse?

I'm hoping MC does well here, but i think folks are getting a little ahead of themselves. I'm cautiously optimistic, but this could be Gary Crowton Part II

Where did you get that chart from?

Just for giggles....Matt Canada vs Les Miles LSU teams.

Matt Canada -

LSU via Les Miles...

Canada is worried about scoring more points than the other team each individual game, whether that's 3 or 77. He's not worried about being the SEC leading scoring offense as long as LSU wins.

Interesting concept.

According to many here, offenses and defenses operate independently of one another. The goal of the offense is to score as many points as possible, any way possible. The goal of the defense is to get a 3 & outs every time. The role of the head coach is to stay completely out of the way of both coordinators as they pursue those goals.

ACC Defense =/= SEC Defense

Correct there were 7 ACC teams that finished in the top 25 in total defense last year compared to only 4 from the SEC.

This ain't the ACC.

And before you get your panties in a wad, I think Matt Canada is a good coach, but I don't expect LSU to be in the top 10 in scoring offense next year. I think top 3-5 in the SEC would mean we have a hell of a team.

Hopefully he isn't hamstrung by our horrible HC.
OP didn't say he expected Canada's offense to approach the numbers it did at Pitt.

That is surprising and has me looking more forward to Coach Canada.

Les' teams did that on pure talent. Everybody and I mean everybody - even people watching from their couches - knew what play was coming over 90% of the time.

With the shifts, looking to create mismatches and using the whole field with LSU's talent should be a lot of fun.

The fact that you actually believe this is sad, very sad.

So you just completely ignore the fact that Les' teams scored more and ranked higher, on average, than Canada's? And somehow twist it into a positive for Canada.

You win 3 gold metals for mental gymnastics. Geaux USA!

It's like you don't even factor in the talent he has had, compared to now.

Oh good god. Les had a shite ton more talent than a lot of the teams he played and wire them down. Canada hasn't had near the talent. The fact that you are actually lobbying for a Les Miles offense tells me this is my last response to you. Have a nice day.

The fact that you don't understand the talent gap of Lsu and some teams and the resulting score, is even more sad.b it's like you are 12.

It is truly unbelievable, and typical of this site, that we have posters arguing things like this. Almost every team Canada coached has had very little talent, they very rarely, if ever, out talented someone. Lsu has overwhelming talent and has a tremendous talent and depth level over more than half the teams they play. I hope to god y'all are trolling and really aren't this stupid that you can't see where talent absolutely matters.

When he was at Wisconsin, he had some of the top RB's in the nation those years. At NC State, he had an NFL QB. Same with Pitt, plus James Conner was his RB. At NIU, he had a really good dual threat QB. He's had talent on par with most of the teams he was playing against. I've already said, if he can get LSU into the top half-ish of scoring and total offense, paired with Aranda's D, we can do some damage.

All you do is try to call people out, why don't you contribute instead of being a whiny little bitch?

Omg. You are naming a couple good players vs. a full team. Lmao. He most certainly did not have equal talent all those years at Indiana and Pitt. Wow
